Instagram and Facebook are experiencing issues around the world as users report issues with the social media apps.
Downdetector, a site that monitors online outages, shows that the problems began around 7 a.m. ET and affected Americans in New York City, Los Angeles, Dallas and other major cities.
The disruption has also occurred in the United Kingdom, Australia and parts of Europe and Asia.
Users have cited problems with Facebook Messenger.
Meta’s service status page shows “some outages” with their “Publishing Tool.”

On Instagram, 62 percent of reported issues cited the app, followed by connecting to the server at 27 percent and sharing at 11 percent.
Downdetector shows that 45 percent of Facebook users said the website was the most affected, followed by the app (39 percent) and 16 percent of reports cited the server connection.
Users flocked to X on Tuesday morning to share their frustrations over the outage and see if others were experiencing similar issues.
“Don’t worry, it’s not just you, Instagram DMs are really down,” one X user shared.
Others questioned whether social media platforms were down or if they had been banned from the platforms.
Some even questioned whether his account had been hacked.

More than 375 million people use Instagram direct messages each month, but it’s unknown how many are experiencing issues during the outage.
But Downdetector shows that there are thousands of reports around the world.
Meta has not acknowledged the interruption.
