A rustic-chic little bar tucked away on a cozy street in a popular Australian town has been named one of the best bars in the world.
Canteen is good! – described by diners as a “great hidden gem” in Sydney’s CBD – is ranked 96th in the world’s 100 best bars.
The microbar with roll-up door and no seats was recognized in the long list of the 50 best bars in the world 51-100 of 2024, as voted by a panel of almost 700 experts, including renowned bartenders, drinks writers, cocktail specialists and critics.
This is the second time this humble drinking spot has been named among the best bars in the world, having ranked 41st globally in 2022.
“We are very excited to be represented once again on a global list packed with so many amazing bars,” Cantina OK! Venue manager Jordan Grocock tells FEMAIL.
“The entire team is hungry to continue pushing the boundaries of what is possible to deliver world-class hospitality in a small corner garage.”
Located inside a converted garage on Council Place behind Clarence Street, the standing-room-only bar seats 20 and features a cocktail menu with signature drinks, each served with hand-shaved ice.
Known for its famous margaritas, the shelves are filled with a collection of rare agave liqueurs that were brought from Mexico after the team’s recent trip.
