Views this dramatic are worthy of an Oscar.

Atzaro Cape Town, a small luxury hotel at the foot of Table Mountain, offers enormous and unparalleled views of the South African city.

To the left is Devil’s Peak, to the right is Lion’s Head, and straight ahead is the City Bowl.

And there is no chance of missing anything.

With large viewing terraces and glass walls, the city’s impressive landscape is always in view.

“With spacious viewing terraces and glass walls, the city’s stunning landscape is always in view,” says Jess. Pictured above is Lion’s Head, part of Table Mountain National Park.

Within the elegant four-story property are seven luxurious suites, each with a unique angle on the city.

My Superior Suite, a light and airy retreat called ‘Marula’, features a king-size bed, separate bathroom, shower, en-suite bathroom and its own sitting area.

Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in plenty of natural light and lead to a leafy terrace equipped with daybeds.

Its comfortable furniture and dim lighting with wicker shades could have tempted me to spend the entire day in the room.

But there is more to admire beyond, including the large open-plan common area surrounded by a spacious terrace.

The mid-century-style interior, designed by co-owner Phillip Gonda, features asymmetrical wooden coffee tables, a large dining table and abstract wooden sculptures sourced from Bali.

There is plenty of space to relax, from comfortable cream sofas to retro-style chairs. And with two crackling fireplaces, there’s a risk you’ll fall asleep.

The hotel calls itself “the perfect pre- or post-safari stay” and features a wildlife theme throughout.

Nature photographs by South African artist Caroline Gibello hang on the walls, a zebra rug proudly covers the dining area, and small hippo sculptures are scattered around the entrance.

Meanwhile, outside there is a large wooden terrace where guests can dip into a sunken pool or lounge on sun loungers.

Guests also have access to a fitness center and wellness suite, which includes a yoga room, sauna, and private massage room.

You won’t have to lift a finger here either, thanks to the attentive staff and in-house manager Xander Labuschagne, who creates a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere.

Breakfast is included in the hotel, while the rest of the dining options are additional and can be adapted to each guest.

During my stay, I enjoyed a four-course meal prepared by private chef Nike Roessler, who regularly cooks for hotel guests, trying everything from crab to avocado salad.

Guests can also order a barbecue or, although it’s difficult to escape the hotel sanctuary, sample the Mother City’s countless dining options, which can be found amid a smorgasbord of memorable venues.

The vibrant Bo-Kaap neighborhood, known for its cobblestone streets and colorful houses, is a short drive away, as is the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden.

Atzaro Cape Town can also organize excursions to enhance sightseeing. On my trip, I took a tour of the peninsula, courtesy of Ligia De Coito of wine tourism company Wine Desk, and stopped everywhere from penguin-occupied Boulder’s Beach and Cape Point to the stunning Chapman’s Peak mountain.

If your neck starts to hurt from turning from side to side to take in the epic views, Atzaro Cape Town offers the perfect place to rest.
