Noni, 71, and John, 73, married in 1987 and separated 12 years later in 1999.

They co-presented the popular Channel Seven lifestyle show Better Homes and Gardens while they were married.

Noni, who has just published her memoir Dropping The Mask, says she has been “in shock since” their split.

“John and I had wonderful times together, and then we didn’t,” Noni said. Women’s Day.

‘That’s true in many relationships. They start out full of hope and optimism, and along the way, hidden issues come to the surface.’

Noni claims she knew her marriage was over when John had “reached out” to someone on the Better Homes And Gardens production team.

“At that moment I knew the marriage was over,” he said.

‘We just wanted different things. I wanted a family. John wanted another woman.

‘The ending of my previous relationships had been difficult enough, but this was much worse. In a way, I think I’ve been in shock ever since.

Despite the breakdown of their relationship, Noni said her two sons from her union with John, Charlie, 36, and William, 30, had been a blessing.

“What happened cannot deny the joy they have brought me,” Noni said.

When contacted by Daily Mail Australia, John said: ‘That was about 20 years ago. It’s prehistoric and I have nothing more to say.

John, who played iconic outback villain Mick Taylor in the Wolf Creek horror films, was Noni’s second husband after the lauded actress was married to director Kevin Dobson from 1975 to 1978.

John has been married four times: twice to Rosa Miano, Noni and his third wife, Cody Jarratt, whom he married in 2011.

He married Rosa in the 1970s and the couple share two children, Zadia and Ebony.

After separating from Noni and Cody, John eventually remarried Rosa in 2017.

While she is perhaps best known for her role on Play School, where she appeared as the show’s host from 1978 to 2001, Noni has also enjoyed a notable acting career in film and television.

One of her most beloved roles on the big screen is the 1982 film Monkey Grip, in which she stars alongside 72-year-old Colin Friels.

Noni recalled a passionate scene in which Colin had to kiss her “up and down my upper body” and although the end result was “sensual and tenderly romantic”, the rushes told a different story.

“With no music to augment the scene, all we could hear, other than the strange slurping sound, was (director) Ken Cameron’s voice talking us through the action,” he said.

“Slow down Colin, stay there a little longer, don’t eat it, be gentle, do that again with your fingers in your mouth Noni, slow down Colin, go up, down, too rough, go to the side, slow down Colin ” etc.”
