Who is Dion Dublin?

Dion Dublin is currently one of three regular hosts on Homes Under The Hammer.

Born in Leicester, England on April 22, 1969, Dion had quite an amazing football career before helping to buy hopeful homes at auction.

He played center forward for a number of teams including Manchester United, Aston Villa and Coventry City.

The former Premier League player has even represented England in football on the international stage.

He has also been part of various other football teams including Wycombe Wanderers, Cambridge United, Leicester City and Norwich City.

But his football career did not come without bumps in the road as the footballer suffered a life-threatening broken neck during a match against Sheffield while playing for Aston Villa in 1999.

Because of the injury, he had to have three titanium plates inserted into his body to bind his neck vertebrae together.

But after he retired from the game in 2008, the sports pundit decided to venture into the world of entertainment.

In 2015 he became a regular presenter on BBC Sport shows such as Football Focus, Final Score, The Late Kick Off and Match Of The Day.

He also worked regularly for Sky Sports, starring on Ford Super Sunday and commentating on several UEFA Champions League matches.

On air he has appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Fighting Talk and their 606 show.

But he didn’t limit himself to the world of sports, signing on to the Homes Under The Hammer cast in 2015.

His move to property television was not welcomed by all, and many from his sporting background questioned the move.

He told The sun:’It was a surprising move for a footballer, I suppose.

‘I got a bit of stick from my old teammates who said things like, ‘You know what?’ and ‘I can’t get rid of you, you’re there every time I turn on my TV’.

‘Even now people still tweet occasionally saying, ‘What is Dion Dublin doing?’ But most of it has been in a good mood.’

Since then, the former Norwich City player has appeared in a staggering 238 episodes of the daytime TV show.

In August 2021, the TV presenter reached the final of BBC Celebrity MasterChef.
