Jordan's private indoor basketball court floods in TikTok video

Michael Jordan’s Chicagoland mansion is aging like the post-MJ Bulls.

Images of the six-time NBA champion’s home have resurfaced in a TikTok clip from eight months ago, showing the abandoned property in complete disarray. Jordan’s private indoor basketball court is flooded while one of his multiple kitchens appears to be in the process of being dismantled.

The video was recorded by someone described as an “urban explorer” and posted on TikTok in January. It is now gaining traction on social media.

“It’s clearly their home,” said Bruce Bowers of Bowers Realty Group. Sports Bible“It’s a tough sell. There’s a lot of work to do to make it yours.”

According to Zillow, Jordan listed the Highland Park, Illinois, property in 2012 for $29 million. The price was reduced to $16 million in 2013 and has remained at $14.8 million for the past several years.

Naturally, the home includes a cigar room for billionaire tobacco enthusiasts. There’s also an infinity pool, a putting green, and a tennis court, not to mention a 7.39-acre estate surrounding the 32,683-square-foot palace with nine bedrooms and 19 bathrooms.

Jordan has lived primarily in his native North Carolina during his retirement, although he has been seen spending the summer with his wife, Cuban-American model Yvette Prieto, aboard a yacht in the Mediterranean.

Jordan ended his 13-year reign as owner of the Hornets by selling his majority stake in the franchise to a group led by Rick Schnall and Gabe Plotkin in August 2023.

The sale to Schnall and Plotkin was said to be worth a staggering $3 billion, representing a colossal profit for the 61-year-old given that he shelled out $275 million to buy the team in 2010.

Jordan remains a minority owner of the Hornets.

And after cashing in on his majority stake in Charlotte, Jordan made the Forbes 400 list of the richest Americans in the United States.

His net worth is now known to have surpassed the $3 billion mark, meaning he has become the first athlete to be included in Forbes’ exclusive club.

Jordan remains the richest athlete in history after combining his iconic NBA career with some of the biggest off-court business deals.

The most famous of those brand partnerships is, of course, with Nike, with whom he partnered on the Jordan brand.

The former Chicago Bulls superstar’s last annual royalty check from Nike reportedly amounted to about $260 million. He reportedly gets five percent of all revenue from his famous Air Jordan sneakers, which were first released in 1984.

In its latest annual report, Nike reported $6.6 billion in annual wholesale sales revenue through the Jordan brand, up 28.6 percent from the previous year.

Jordan, who earned $94 million on the court during his 15 NBA seasons, also has lucrative deals with companies including McDonald’s, Gatorade and Hanes.

However, it was his shock sale of the Hornets for nearly 17 times their initial value that placed him among the richest people in America.

He is one of only three athletes in history to become a billionaire, along with basketball superstar LeBron James and golf legend Tiger Woods, although the latter achieved this while their careers were still active.

Jordan also co-owns a NASCAR team, which includes the No. 23 car driven by Bubba Wallace.

Wallace finished third on Sunday at Michigan International Speedway.
