This is the luxurious presidential suite where Harry and Meghan stayed on their trip to Nigeria, as officials revealed they have already been invited to return later this year.

Meghan and Harry’s quasi-royal tour took on a presidential feel when they were toured through Abuja and Lagos in a 14-car convoy with balaclava-clad soldiers carrying machine guns.

The couple was initially due to stay at the Transcorp Hilton, but then, for security and logistical reasons (an important meeting of African leaders was taking place at the same time), they moved to the Fraser Suites.

The Duke and Duchess, their security, several Invictus Games directors and assistants took over the entire top floor of the Fraser Suites in central Abuja, which was their base for the trip that began on Friday.

Meghan and Harry had the £3,000-a-night four-bedroom executive penthouse on the top floor, which features its own living and dining room and spectacular views of the Nigerian capital.

The couple used the hotel as a base for their numerous wardrobe changes during the trip that began Friday and ended Sunday night with a charity polo match and fundraiser in Lagos.

They left Abuja early Monday morning after flying back from Lagos and received a military escort.

The Fraser Suites also has a state-of-the-art gym, swimming pool, two restaurants and private gardens, but Harry and Meghan ate in their suite and were not seen in public areas of the hotel.

One staff member said: “We were all told not to talk about their stay here, but now that they’re gone it’s okay to share.”

‘They arrived here very early on Friday morning and left very early on Monday morning to catch the British Airways flight back to London.

‘They were supposed to stay somewhere else but due to security and other events they came here and to be honest this is a much quieter and more discreet hotel.

“I only saw them briefly, but they seemed very happy to be here in Nigeria and they all love Meghan for her Nigerian heritage.”

The Duchess caused wild scenes among delighted locals after she revealed a DNA test had shown she was 43% Nigerian and described the West African nation as “my country” in a talk she gave.

Sussex Squad fans, fans of the Duke and Duchess, followed the couple throughout the trip, waving flags with photos of the couple and declaring Meghan their “sister.”

After discovering her ancestry, Meghan said she called her mother “because I wanted to know if she was aware of it.”

The couple had been invited to visit by Chief of the Defense Staff Charles Musa and Harry was keen to show off the troubled West African nation’s part of the Invictus Games project to wounded service personnel.

While visiting military top brass, he thanked them for “welcoming me home” and proudly wore traditional Nigerian clothing on the last day of the trip offered to him by dignitaries on Saturday.

It came as Nigeria’s Air Vice Marshal Abidemi Marquis exclusively told MailOnline that he had invited the couple in November when Nigeria was hosting the African Military Games.

He said: ‘Harry and Meghan’s visit was a fantastic success and they had immense fun as our guests, they loved the welcome they received, especially Meghan as she is 43% Nigerian.

‘The aim of the visit, to show how Nigeria is helping its wounded soldiers, was achieved but it was also an opportunity for them to see the country they had never visited.

‘The warm welcome they received was obvious and you could see they were having fun, always smiling and saying hello. I invited them to return to the African military games later this year.

“They look forward to coming and are more than welcome here at any time, especially as Meghan is Nigerian.”

Later, speaking about Harry’s visit to a military hospital in Kaduna, where he went alone as the area is considered dangerous, AVM Marquis praised Harry for his compassion in speaking to wounded soldiers.

Paying an almost Mother Teresa-style compliment, he said: ‘That the wounded and wounded soldiers saw him and knew him raised their morale.

‘They felt encouraged by his words and seeing and meeting the Duke lifted their spirits and gave them courage to face what they are going through.

“Everyone was happy to see him and Meghan, from the soldiers to the children, and they brought happiness to the people they met, so they are welcome back any time.”
