A former Liverpool captain is chasing new dreams at a glamorous Dubai-based company, just 14 months after leaving a European club under a cloud.
The 34-year-old former international recently launched a blue-chip business in property, high-end experiences, interior design, consulting and video production.
Mamadou Sakho enjoyed the Sakho & Co launch party in Dubai in November and his business runs on the motto “Elevate Your Game”.
Just 14 months ago, Sakho left French club Montpellier after a training fight with then-coach Michel Der Zakarian. The newspaper L’Equipe claimed that witnesses saw him grab the manager by the neck and push him to the ground, something Sakho denies.
In June, Sakho joined little-known Georgian club Torpedo Kutaisi, playing for them 13 times.
However, his social media output has focused on his lifestyle and business in the United Arab Emirates, where he has rubbed shoulders with the likes of Max Verstappen, Bacary Sagna, Florent Malouda and his former Liverpool teammate Christian Benteke.

Sakho & Co.’s main venture is ‘Sakho properties’, in which the former French international shows potential clients luxury homes.

One property advertised is a 75th floor penthouse with panoramic views in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

Sakho has hired several professionals to help him as part of a five-pronged business.
Sakho calls his new passion “UFO”.
The dominant arm of its business, Sakho Properties, operates in Dubai, Paris, Marrakech and Senegal.
Properties they have been dealing with include a five-bedroom beachfront villa selling for £9.6 million in Dubai’s exclusive Palm Jumeirah neighborhood, with a private pool and a “maid’s room”.
If that’s not to your liking, then how about a two-storey Parisian penthouse just a stone’s throw from the Eiffel Tower for around £8.4 million?
Sakho was recently advertising the hiring of a real estate agent for his company with a salary of “unlimited earning potential.”
The former French international regularly appears in the company’s videos, walking potential buyers around the properties, wearing his sunglasses.
During his launch party in November, Sakho posted: “The time has finally come to share a project that unites my passion for football with my entrepreneurial spirit, a spirit that has been forged and enriched in recent years and which every minute of my free time has been dedicated.
‘I can’t wait to introduce you to Sakho & Co, an ecosystem that offers a full range of interconnected services designed to support entrepreneurs, investors and individuals looking for tailored solutions!’

Sakho played for Liverpool for three seasons but left early in Jurgen Klopp’s reign.

His new life in the United Arab Emirates has led him to become a guest of Red Bull in F1.
Wearing his smart clothes and holding meetings with potential clients, this corporate life is a rallying cry that saw him build a reputation as a fearsome defender on the football field.
Liverpool signed Sakho from Paris Saint-Germain for £18m in September 2013.
He arrived with a great reputation, as he was the youngest captain in PSG history at 17 years and eight months.
He helped the Reds finish second in the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers in the 2013-14 season.
However, despite his undeniable talent, the centre-back only spent three seasons playing for Liverpool.
Ahead of the 2016–17 campaign, manager Jurgen Klopp sent him home from Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States after missing a team meeting and arriving late for a recovery session.
He spent that season on loan at Crystal Palace before joining the London club permanently for £26 million in September 2017.
He spent three more full seasons there before moving to Montepellier shortly after the 2021-22 season.
