A mother’s Aldi hack has impressed shoppers who constantly forget to bring a coin to unlock the wheels.
Most shopping carts require you to insert coins into them to make them move – but an old family hack has revealed a secret way around the obstacle.
Nikes, from Brisbane, always forgets to take her coins with her and ends up buying even more from Aldi every time she visits.
Even if mom doesn’t usually have $1 or $2 coins on hand, she always has spare change that fits neatly in the carts.
Nikes pressed a 5c and 10c coin together and inserted it into the $1 coin slot to unlock the carts.
Nikes presses the 5c and 10c coins together and inserts them into the $1 coin slot to unlock the carts.
She shared video proof of her hack on social media.
“If you find yourself running into Aldi a lot and having to keep buying $2 and $1 coins, here’s a tip for you,” she said.
“Just take a 5c coin and a 10c coin and put them together in the dollar slot.”
The mother revealed that her brother showed her how to do it growing up, but it sometimes made her feel “doubtful” and “sneaky”.
Many others have revealed similar tips and tricks that also work.
“You can also use the head of a wrench!” » they say.
“The New Zealand 10c works in the $2 bracket,” explained another.
One mother added: “I usually just get a trolley token and hang it on my keys.”
“Thank you so much for this hack, I have seven of these cart tokens now because they are never on the keys where I left them,” said another.
