Fans have criticized Simone Anderson and other influencers for indulging in an all-expenses trip to one of New Zealand’s most exclusive destinations amid a cost of living crisis.
A small number of tastemakers were invited by cosmetics giant Elizabeth Arden to the trip which included luxury accommodation at Eagles Nest in the Bay of Islands.
The resort is known for its sky-high prices, including a package worth $10,000 a night.
The reaction occurred after Open The podcast posted details of the trip on their Instagram.
The post used images from the trip shared by Anderson, including photos of the interior of the private jet used for air travel, complimentary packages and a “welcome” gift of Moet champagne.

Former The Voice Australia star, singer Sarah Browne, was among those who expressed concern.
“I don’t know why (the trip) would attract anyone to buy the brand,” he messaged.
He is conceited and conceited. What benefit does this wealth extortion have for the general public?

‘I find it (the trip) out of touch,’ another follower added.
‘I would prefer it to be a competition where people who really need some free time win. Moms, caregivers, emergency workers. I love seeing some regular moms try some, get treated, and walk out with a big bag of goodies to take home. Much more relatable too.”
Several followers pointed out the inclusion of controversial influencer Simone Anderson, 33, on the trip as ‘negative’.
Fans responded with negative comments about the influencers’ trip.
“That’s a no from me,” one user explained, continuing: I think given the cost of living, climate change, genocide, etc., it’s tone deaf. If we add to that the Simone Anderson factor, it’s a resounding no on my part.”
Anderson, who rose to fame after losing 92kg, has a history of being reprimanded by the Advertising Standards Authority after failing to disclose paid content in his posts.
Another follower felt that influencer trips were now hopelessly outdated as a way to engage consumers.
“This seems so 2016,” they wrote.

‘I don’t think people are impressed by trips from influential brands anymore. Plus, it’s very lazy marketing. Do it better.’
Meanwhile, Anderson celebrated her trip by posting videos and selfies to her Instagram, including a short clip of herself “dancing” aboard the private jet.
‘This place has been on my bucket list for years. I feel incredibly honored to be here right now. “Speechless,” he captioned his post.
