Influencer slams ‘problematic’ Hilary Duff for saying she skips breakfast and only drinks coffee to help her ‘starve’
Author and influencer Laura Henshaw has criticized Hilary Duff for her restrictive breakfast habits.
Hilary Duff revealed on the Lipstick on the Rim podcast in May that she often skips breakfast instead of a cup of coffee.
“Sometimes I try – you know, Gwyneth is in trouble saying this – but sometimes I just try to have coffee in the morning and satisfy my hunger,” she told host Molly Sims.
Laura, 30, reacted to the clip about her KICPOD podcast this week, calling the comments “really problematic.”
“I think back to myself when I was 19. I was struggling, I was so easily influenced, I had eating disorders, I googled all the time, “What do celebrities eat?”

“If I had heard this interview with Hilary Duff when I wasn’t at my best, that would have been my new goal,” she said.
Laura explained that while some people think it’s positive that celebrities are “honest” about their eating habits, she didn’t see it that way.
“Honesty isn’t always best,” said the author of the Girl’s Guide to Kicking Goals.
“When you have a huge audience of people who are extremely … especially a lot of young women, who are so impressionable, so vulnerable, who give this information, I think it’s so problematic.”
Elsewhere on the Lipstick on the Rim podcast, Duff admitted that she looks to Gwyneth Paltrow for inspiration when it comes to staying slim.

She explained that she tries to avoid starting her day with a meal because she often wakes up “really hungry.”
But sometimes she bends the rules while packing school lunches for her three kids.
“If we’re being honest, yes, I eat a chicken nugget in the morning while I’m packing packed lunches and there’s one left. Drop it through the hatch!’ said the singer.
The Raise Your Voice actress insisted she takes in “a lot of calories” throughout the day.
“Sometimes I try — you know, Gwyneth is in trouble for saying this — but sometimes I just try to drink coffee in the morning and satisfy my hunger,” Duff told host Molly Sims
She leans toward “super clean,” nutritious foods and even incorporates plant-based options into her menu.
Right now, Duff is “obsessed” with cauliflower rounds that she often tops with avocado or vegan sausage, and overnight oats are a staple in her fridge.
Duff is also an avid fitness enthusiast, hitting the gym four to five times a week.
She has also developed a better relationship with food.
In addition to keeping her in incredible shape, the Cinderella Story star said her healthy lifestyle has kept her “in a good mindset.”
“Had I heard this interview with Hilary Duff when I was out of place, that would have been my new goal,” said Laura
