Australian influencer Indy Clinton has sparked a debate after admitting she planned to rehome her kelpie, Billy, after he bit one of her children.

In a now-defunct Instagram Stories post, the 26-year-old asked what her followers would do in the same situation.

“What if you always trusted this dog 110 percent around your kids, but one day things changed?” she began.

‘So one night, the dog is inside because it’s cold, your son pets the dog like any child should be able to pet the family dog, and the dog reacts and bites him,’ the TikTok star continued.

‘So in my head, hypothetically speaking, I would only allow that once, that’s one time and the dog is gone.

“You can look for a new home or go to another family that doesn’t have children, but when push comes to shove, the situation becomes quite difficult.

‘It’s a very difficult decision to make, so if someone finds themselves in this situation, what would they do with their dog? Would they not give them another chance? Would they separate them forever and have no quality of life? Would they chain them up downstairs?’

Indy later admitted that he had plans to rehome Billy, but backed out and decided to get a second dog as a “buddy” for the older animal to calm him down.

Discussing the topic were the presenters of The Outspoken Podcastwho did not agree with the way the matter was handled.

“I think this situation is worse and warrants more litigation because it doesn’t appear that any of Billy’s aggressions have been addressed,” they said.

“And this seems like a band-aid situation. She has reiterated that the dog trainer told her there’s nothing he can do. She probably shouldn’t have shared it online.”

So far, Indy hasn’t received much criticism for the decision, with a handful of fans simply wondering how Billy was dealing with the new mascot.
