Europe’s largest wave pool and billed as “the world’s first indoor surf resort” is set to open this autumn and is sure to cause a stir among surfers.

Located near Edinburgh, Lost Shore Surf Resort will also be Scotland’s first inland surf resort, offering a state-of-the-art surf pool three times the size of Wembley football pitch and up to 1,000 waves per hour.

Set within a 60-acre country park in Scotland, it will feature luxury lodges, premium accommodation modules, restaurants, a spa and retail facilities.

But the highlight is its huge wave pool and surf lake, which face an extensive beach.

Surfers will be able to ride waves for up to 22 seconds, with 20 different types of waves to enjoy.

Lost Shore says it will “welcome surfers of all levels, from beginners to future Olympians.”

Beginners can take advantage of surf lessons with “expert instruction.” Rental of wetsuits, gloves, boots and surfboards will be included in the price. Indoor heated changing rooms will also be available before or after the activity.

The Lost Shore Resort is ideally located just 10 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and 25 minutes from Edinburgh city centre. For those travelling from Glasgow, the drive is just 45 minutes.

In addition to surfing opportunities, the resort will feature 53 luxury accommodations and premium capsules with capacity for eight people.

Visitors will also enjoy the wellness treatment studio and resort amenities.

The resort aims to “significantly enhance” Edinburgh’s tourism economy and last month announced it would create more than 100 new jobs.

Andy Roger, Managing Director of Lost Shore Surf Resort, said: “Lost Shore Surf Resort is going to make a huge splash when we open in September. As a living wage employer, we are committed to building a fantastic team to help us realise our vision for Lost Shore Surf Resort.

“Opening any new business is an exciting time. Preparing for day one is part of that process, as the new team learns about the resort and positions themselves well to serve our guests from opening day.”
