Lin Dunn came to Caitlin Clark’s defense after Sky player Chennedy Carter tackled her to the ground in the third quarter of the Indiana Fever’s 71-70 win against Chicago on Saturday night.
The Fever general manager took to social media after the game, in which Carter apparently yelled “bitch” at Clark before pushing her to the ground.
‘There is a difference between tough defense and unnecessary targeting actions!’ the veteran WNBA coach wrote in X.
‘It has to stop! The league needs to ‘clean up’ this garbage,” he added. ‘That’s NOT what this league is!!’
Using his own body weight to hit Clark, Carter knocked the rookie to the ground while waiting for the serve.

Caitlin Clark was inexplicably knocked to the ground by Chicago Sky’s Chennedy Carter.
Remarkably, the Chicago player escaped with only a personal foul.
“I’m trying not to get fined,” Fever head coach Christie Sides told reporters after the game.
“We’ll continue to send these possessions to the league and these plays, and hopefully they’ll start to better analyze some of the things that we see happening or that we think are happening,” he explained.
‘I’m just happier that Caitlin handled it the way she did. It’s hard to keep getting hit like she does and not be rewarded with free throws or just a called foul. She continues to fight them.’
Carter knocked the rookie to the ground and escaped with only a personal foul.
The first overall draft pick said it wasn’t “a basketball play,” but he had to “play it”
“I’m not answering any questions from Caitlin Clark,” Carter said at the podium after the game.
Clark, for his part, told reporters: “That’s not a basketball play, but I have to play it, that’s what basketball at this level is all about.”
Carter, however, declined to address the incident or reveal what prompted her to lash out at her opponent.
“I’m not answering any questions from Caitlin Clark,” he said of the No. 1 draft pick in a postgame news conference.
Clark, who was 4 of 11 from the field, finished with 11 points, and the Fever will try to record their first set of consecutive wins this season when they face the Liberty on Sunday at Barclays Center.
