Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli received a custom football shirt from Premier League club Southampton FC on Wednesday. The official Twitter account of Southampton had shared the image of his striker Danny Ings delivering the shirt to Virat Kohli. "It was great to welcome @imVkohli and @BCCI to Southampton last week! #Saintsfc", Southampton FC had captioned the image. Virat Kohli and his team had lost the fourth test against England at Southampton last week for 60 races.

India's performance in the five-game test series has not been up to the task, as they are behind hosts 1-3. Chasing 245 races for victory in the fourth race, India was led by Kohli (58) and Ajinkya Rahane (51) who showed a fight against the English bowlers. Kohli and Rahane were involved in a 101-race spot for fourth place and revived India's hopes, but the hosts' bowlers opened fire in the evening session to wrap up the visiting team.

Kohli retained his number one spot in the last rankings of batters of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with a score of 937 points, the highest of his career, despite the defeat in the fourth Test. Kohli's 46 and 58 in the two Southampton Test tickets helped him retain first place. Kohli, who has scored 544 runs in his eight innings in this series, is 11th on the list of best scoring points, just drifting off a group of four: Gary Sobers, Clyde Walcott, Vivian Richards and Kumar Sangakkara .
