If India declines the invitation to play in a seven-game match with South Africa, England is likely to play a one-day and Twenty20 series against South Africa.
In view of the 50-over World Cup in New Zealand early next year, the focus will be on the ODIs and a 5-2 split has been proposed.
A 24-man squad from England has been practicing for the past four weeks and the ECB wants Heather Knight’s team to play the same number of matches even if India withdraws.
