- India on top in first Test against Australia
- It comes after a scorching spell of bowling from the captain.
- His wife was impressed by a very different figure.
While millions of Indian fans were amazed by captain Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling against Australia in the first Test, his wife had a very different opinion.
After declaring before the game that he thrived on responsibility, Bumrah (4-17) produced a devastating first spell to remove debutant opener Nathan McSweeney (10), Usman Khawaja (eight) and Steve Smith (golden duck).
He has India in the box to claim first blood in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, but it was Bumrah’s performance, not his bowling performances, that impressed his wife Sanjana Ganesan the most.
“Big bowler, even bigger booty,” the sportscaster hilariously posted to her 1.6 million followers, including a cheeky peach emoji.
Before the massacre, former Australian opener David Warner explained why it was so difficult to face the Indian bowler.
‘Bumrah’s key challenge is getting used to his action. If you haven’t faced it before, it can be quite a challenge,” Warner said.
Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah is married to popular sports commentator Sanjana Ganesan, who has 1.6 million followers on Instagram.
Ganesan posted this bold picture of her husband after his devastating spell in the first test.
You have to try to get used to the stutter at the crease. And then unleash some lightning bolts. He always gets the line and length right. You can turn them both ways.
‘I think the good thing about him is that he has two different gears. He can throw it when the ball is new and then he can go the other length.’
One of the greatest bowlers of all time, Wasim Akram, also praised Bumrah on Star Sports.
‘Bumrah was at the top of his game, reading the Australian batsmen brilliantly. “His spell was a masterclass in understanding conditions and exploiting weaknesses,” he said.
‘He is the best bowler in world cricket in all formats. The control, the swing, the pace, using the crease, went around the wicket to Usman Khawaja. I mean, he’s just a brilliant bowler to look at.
‘He realized the batsman’s weakness very quickly, and he hardly bowled a short ball, and realized that he would expect a short pitch.
‘He bowled everything, turned the ball both ways and got four wickets. This is what the leader who leads from the front is called.
It comes after Bumrah said he enjoyed the added responsibility of captaincy before his devastating bowling spell.
“I don’t see captaincy as a position, but I have always loved the responsibility,” Bumrah said in a press conference before the first Test.
‘I wanted to do hard work since I was a child. “You want to do things and face difficult scenarios, it adds a new challenge for me.”
