A nine-month-old baby who suffered life-threatening burns after being attacked with hot coffee will be discharged from hospital today.

Little Luka was on a picnic with his mother in Hanlon Park in Brisbane’s south-east when a stranger allegedly approached them around midday on August 27 and poured a thermos of boiling coffee over the baby before running away.

The baby suffered life-threatening burns to his face, upper body and arms and underwent five operations at Queensland Children’s Hospital.

Baby Luka’s mother revealed on Wednesday that her baby boy has been discharged from the hospital.

She revealed that the family did not regularly visit Hanlon Park and the decision was made to visit the site so they could meet up to play with other friends.

“I don’t usually go to the South Side,” he told KIIS 97.3.

‘We were catching up with friends from my “mom group.”‘

The mother revealed that a stranger then approached her from behind and threw hot coffee on her baby.
