An incredible new video shows the chaotic aftermath of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump and reveals what led the former president to visibly demand his shoes back.
The Secret Service, which has come under heavy scrutiny for its actions that day, responded quickly after 20-year-old Thomas Crooks fired the shot and immediately surrounded the former president to isolate him and protect him from further gunfire.
Initially stunned, Trump told officers: “Let me get my shoes, let me get my shoes” as he stood up from the ground.

It shows the Secret Service accosting Trump, removing his shoes and throwing them off the stage.

Dozens of questions were asked following the shooting, in which one member of the public was killed and Trump himself miraculously survived. People have wondered why Trump continued to ask for his shoes back after the shooting.
Trump himself has also seen the strange side of the incident, confirming what was visible in the video clip of the first interview he gave after the shooting.
“The officers hit me so hard that my shoes fell off, and they were squeezing me,” he said.
Trump has praised the speed and strength of his security.
He said he received a bruise on his arm simply because a Secret Service member held him down.
“That’s just from a guy who grabbed me,” Trump said. “Do you know how strong you have to be to do that?”
“They did a fantastic job,” he added. “It’s surreal for all of us.”
He told the Secret Service he wanted to try to get back to the podium and continue speaking.
“I wanted to keep talking, I wanted to keep talking, but I just got shot. It’s a very surreal experience and you never know what you’re going to do until something like that happens.”
Trump himself has also seen the strange side of the incident, confirming what was seen in the video clip of the first interview he gave after the shooting.
A sniper team was inside the building where would-be Donald Trump assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, was being held from the roof and opened fire after being seen climbing into their shooting position 26 minutes earlier, shocking new reports claim.
The shocking new allegations come as authorities and the U.S. Secret Service face mounting questions about how Crooks was able to shoot the former president and kill a member of the crowd at the rally.
One of the snipers spotted Crooks outside the building and looking up at the roof where he would eventually commit the shooting. CBS News reported.
Another sniper even took a photo of Crooks after he returned, sat down and checked his phone.
The snipers really started to get going when Crooks pulled out a rangefinder and one of them sent a radio message to his command post, before Crooks disappeared once again.
However, he returned once more with a backpack. Several snipers reported by radio that he was heading to the back of the building.
However, by the time reinforcements arrived, he had already reached the roof and some officers speculated that he had used an air conditioning unit to climb up.
By the time state police arrived at the scene, Crooks had already caused damage and had been killed by a Secret Service sniper.
Shortly after Trump was rushed away, the lifeless body of Thomas Matthew Crooks was seen on a rooftop surrounded by officers. His death was not confirmed until 7:24 p.m.

The 78-year-old former president survived the horrific assassination attempt when the bullet missed him by less than an inch on Saturday afternoon.
This came eight minutes after he took the stage at 6:03 p.m. ET, where Trump began his remarks by pointing to a large graphic in the same direction where the shooter was atop an AGR International building.
Even before he took the stage, Trump supporters said they saw the gunman “crawling” across the roof with a rifle, but claimed their warnings to the Secret Service were ignored.
With the sun still high on a bright day, Trump appeared with the song “God Bless the USA” playing over loudspeakers at 6:03 p.m. and stood waving and shaking his fist at the crowd for several minutes.
Trump grabbed his right ear as the first shots rang out at 6:12 p.m.
Trump pulled out a large graph with statistics about the migration crisis at the southern border and told the crowd at 6:11 p.m.: “That graph is a couple of months old…”
“If you want to see something really sad, take a look at what happened,” Trump continued, before abruptly clutching the side of his head as loud “pops” filled the space at the event.
The 78-year-old fell to the ground in an instant as five more shots rang out in rapid succession, before four Secret Service agents rushed onto the scene and pounced on the former president.
Shocking images showed Trump cowering on the ground as officers protected him, blood dripping down his cheek.
Several more Secret Service agents continued to flood the stage, while four heavily armed officers lined the perimeter ordering attendees to “get down.”
The sniper, sitting 400 feet in front of the rally on an exposed rooftop, fired another shot at the stage a second later as Trump fans streamed out of the stands.
The Secret Service rushed to take control of the pandemonium as three attendees were shot, one fatally, within seconds.
An emergency room doctor who had blood splattered on his shirt later said he sprang into action to perform emergency CPR on a victim.
Attendees said they alerted the Secret Service to a man on the roof where the gunman was later killed.
“The guy turned around and got trapped between the benches. He was shot in the head. There was a lot of blood and he had brain matter,” he told CBS News.
“I gathered him together and got people to help me a lot. I also did chest compressions and CPR.”
Trump returned to public life and the campaign trail with a triumphant appearance on the opening night of the Republican National Convention on Monday in Milwaukee.
