The dramatic moment when a jet ski rider has recorded an incredible rescue of a surfer in Nazaré in Portugal has been recorded on video.

The drone images show that professional surfer Lucas Chumbo is dragged on November 20 by his teammate Ian Cosenza on a jet ski into a monster wave.

After an impressive ride, the Brazilian left the wave successfully and his teammate waited for him to pick up the jet ski.

As Cosenza approached Chumbo, another huge wave of at least 50 feet rolled toward them and threatened to flatten them both in the collision zone.

Chumbo managed to grab the sled at the back of the jet ski and Cosenza accelerated to the shore as fast as he could.

But the drama didn't end there: the two are now being chased by a mass of white water that travels at 60 miles an hour and quickly catches and swallows the couple.

It is striking that they both escaped unharmed from the wave thanks to their quick responses

When something like this happens, it usually doesn't end well, but against all odds Cosenza managed to get the jet ski out of the mountain full of foam and bring them both to safety.

The WSL (World Surf League) described the heroic achievement as & # 39; one of the craziest saves ever seen & # 39 ;.

Chumbo is currently one of the best big wave surfers in the world.

Praia do Norte beach, near the fishing village of Nazaré, became world famous in 2011 when Hawaiian surfer Garrett McNamara set a world record for the biggest wave ever surfing at 78 feet.
