A curious great white shark approached a research diver off the coast of Massachusetts while feeding on a whale carcass.
A team of divers from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy (AWSC) were observing white sharks feeding off the coast of Scituate, between Boston and Cap Cod, when a shark came up to say hello a few weeks ago. video published in X programs.
The shark approached one of the divers and got so close to the cameras that viewers could see its lunch hanging from its mouth.
The shark then gently rotated around the shark, allowing the divers to see the “unique markings along its face.”

Cape Cod has become a shark hotspot over the past 15 years due to warming waters and a rising seal population, with peak activity around August and early fall.
Cape Cod swimmers, however, are in no hurry to avoid enjoying the coastal waters.
“Until we see someone injured by a shark, we probably won’t change our habits,” Charles Washburn, who swims regularly in the ocean, told the Boston Globe.
“If it’s my time, it’s my time,” Sophie Walker, of Brewster, told the outlet.

Coastal cities along both U.S. coasts have enhanced their shark-watching capabilities by employing drones and airplanes, staffing lifeguards and using colored flags to warn beachgoers.
According to The Globe, the National Seashore has banned swimming up to 33 times in recent summers because sharks get too close.
The last time a fatal attack occurred in Cabo was in 2018, when a 26-year-old man was killed on Newcomb Beach.
