A four-year-old boy who was hit by a taxi while walking to the shops with his mother has saved two lives through organ donation.

Samuel Kleehammer died two weeks ago after being hit by a Toyota bus taxi while walking to shops in Karratha, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, on March 24.

He was crossing Tambrey Drive with his mother around 7:45 pm when he was hit by the vehicle.

While the rest of his kindergarten class enjoyed the Easter school holidays, Samuel fought for his life at Perth Children’s Hospital.

His family was forced to make the heartbreaking decision to turn off their little boy’s life support on March 29.

Four-year-old Samuel Kleehammer (pictured) died in a car accident in March, but donated his heart and kidney to a little girl and an elderly man, respectively.

However, the four-year-old’s heart and kidney will survive thanks to organ donation.

Samuel’s aunt, Joni Mitchell, said his donation has been a comfort to her grieving family.

His mother, Kasie Kleehammer, is especially comforted knowing that “her son’s heart is still beating.”

‘His heart went to another little boy and his kidney went to an old man. So, by losing him, she saved two lives,” said Mrs Mitchell.

Samuel was the youngest of five children and has been remembered for having the “cheegiest smile”.

“He was the baby of the family, he loved everyone, he had a huge heart,” Mitchell said.

‘He loved going for bike rides. His mom would ride a bike and he would be in the trailer. He also loved to play in his cubby with his brother.

He added that Samuel’s death has been “traumatic” for his family.

Mitchell shared the family’s gratitude to a stranger who saw the collision and rushed to help the four-year-old’s loved ones.

Samuel’s mother (pictured), Kasie Kleehammer, finds particular comfort in knowing that her son’s heart is “still beating.”

The kind stranger took Samuel’s family to the hospital and cared for his siblings for eight hours in the emergency room so Mrs. Kleehammer could be with her son.

WA Police are still investigating the circumstances of the fatal crash.

Major Crash investigators asked that anyone with information, images or who witnessed the incident contact Crime Stoppers.
