Enchanting photos show a large number of insects surrounded by small drops of rain after an early morning shower.

Photographer Alberto Ghizzi Panizza, 44, was awake at dawn to catch an early burst of rain in a forest near the beautiful River Po in Italy.

Panizza used macro photography, a technique that allows a photographer to take extreme close-up photos of his subjects.
In this way he can capture the most intricate details in his images – even the smallest insect.
