Gina Rodriguez shares the significance of her son’s name, Charlie Ray, while adding that she went through a traumatic birth that resulted in an injury
Gina Rodriguez opened up about the decision to name her infant son Charlie Ray during an interview with the people shared on Friday.
The 38-year-old actress sat down for a wide-ranging interview with the publication during which she revealed why she chose to name her baby after him.
The artist, who was seen with her newborn for the first time during an outing that took place last month, shared her son with her husband, Joe LuCicero, whom she married in 2019.
During the interview, Rodriguez revealed that her baby’s first and middle name was inspired by several deceased relatives.
“Charlie has so many beautiful grandparents to his name,” stated the Jane the Virgin star.

The performer also discussed how she’s embraced her role as a mother, saying, “I’m honestly in newborn heaven.”
Rodriguez went on to describe how quickly her newborn son was growing.
It is fully evolving and evolving every day. I went from not making eye contact to making eye contact, not smiling to smiling.
“He’s so cuddly, you just want to eat him,” the actress added.
The Golden Globe-winning actress then spoke about how childbirth left her with major side effects.
“While pushing, I said, ‘I feel like my legs are falling off,’ and they were like, ‘Push in pain,’ and then I heard a loud pop… My thighs were hurting so bad for a while after that,” she said.
Rodriguez also discussed how LoCicero asked her what she wanted to do for her first Mother’s Day as an actual parent.
She recalls: “My husband was like, ‘What should I do?'” This is your first one. It must be such a big deal. I was like, “All I want to do is spend it with my little man.”

The actress and her husband first met while working on an episode of Jane the Virgin in 2016.
Although the two didn’t hit it off at first, they eventually reconnect after running into each other at the gym.
The couple began dating and eventually tied the knot during a wedding that took place in May of 2019 and officiated by her former co-star, Justin Baldoni.
The actress had announced her pregnancy in July last year, and went on to give birth last March.
