Imran Khan arrives at court for his bail application hearing, according to Agence France-Presse
The Pakistani Supreme Court considered the arrest of former Prime Minister Imran Khan invalid, while the United Nations called on the security forces in Pakistan to exercise restraint.
“Your arrest is invalid, and the whole process needs to be reconsidered,” said Chief Justice Umar Atta Pandial, who heard an appeal by Khan’s lawyers against his arrest on Tuesday in a corruption case.
Khan appeared in the Supreme Court on Thursday after his lawyers filed a challenge to the legality of his arrest earlier this week, which sparked protests across the country.
