A Perth man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter over the death of a mother who previously lost her young son to the murder.

Police had alleged that Jahleel Delaine Ahirau Berryman was the driver of a BMW that drove through a red light and collided with a Mitsubishi Magna in April last year.

Kerry Bodney, 31, was a passenger in the BMW and was seriously injured in the crash.

She was rushed to hospital but could not be saved.

Two other passengers in the BMW were also injured.

Police said Mr Berryman fled the scene but was later arrested and taken to hospital for injuries he suffered in the crash.

He was charged with involuntary manslaughter, failing to stop and render assistance after an incident resulting in death, and failing to report an incident resulting in death or bodily harm serious.

Mr Berryman appeared at Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday, where he pleaded guilty to manslaughter and will face a sentencing hearing at the Washington Supreme Court in July.

He has not yet entered a plea to the other charges.

Ms Bodney was the mother of a two-year-old who was murdered by her former partner Wayne Narkle in 2012.

Ms Bodney’s family and friends paid tribute to her after the fatal crash.

She is remembered as a beautiful soul, an inspiration of strength and resilience, and she was taken too soon.
