A few leakers posted new media this week claiming to showcase the latest addition to Apple’s audio lineup: the Apple AirPods Studio.
AirPods Studio, said to be Apple’s first over-the-ear headphones, are one of the most highly anticipated Apple products in recent memory, as audiophiles and audio professionals alike are looking for what are expected to be some of the smartest headphones ever.
One of the speakers, Jon Prosser, teased a new rendition of the latest headphones last week and came along this week with several rendered images that he said were based on material leaked to him by an Apple insider.
AirPods Studio (code name: B515) – High-quality leather / metal – Magnetic ear cups – Reversible – recognizes R / L ear – No headphone jack – USBC port These are the renderings we took to protect the source. pic.twitter.com/6Abg2TgxiZSeptember 16, 2020

The renderings show a square case with rounded corners instead of the typical round or oval cases seen on most over-the-ear headphones – suggesting that the AirPods Studio isn’t over-the-ear at all, but earlier on the ear.
If found to be correct, it may make the headset’s reported active noise cancellation less effective. Assuming the headphones are as “smart” as the rumors claim they are, if they turn out to be on-ear instead, Apple may have some new tech up its sleeve that we don’t know about yet.
This is especially true because – as a potential rival to the Sony WH-1000XM4, which has phenomenal noise cancellation in addition to its many other features – the AirPods Studio will have to bring something special new to the table to stand out in a busy environment. field of more established makers of audio equipment.
But if anyone can manage that, it’s Apple – just ask Motorola and Blackberry.
Can you hear that? The sound of more leaks …
According to MacRumors, another leaker, Fudge, appears to have gotten the same video and images that Prosser received and posted the image and video itself to Twitter.
The image may show the “Sport” variant of the AirPods Studio – in what appears to be Apple’s Space Gray color scheme – which is said to be lighter and feature removable and washable ear pads.
Probably Sport variant of Apple’s headphones Not personally impressed, looks too much like 2 Palm Pre’s attached to 2 tuning forks: / hard to see Looks a lot like what @markgurman described in April, but with homepod mesh pic.twitter.com/ dzAufRRl7mSeptember 16, 2020
The case for the AirPods Studio can also be seen in a video Fudge posted to Twitter showing the AirPods Studio in classic Apple White.

These latest leaks – especially the video – look like the real deal, but until we see an official word from Apple, it remains all speculation at this point.
Rumor has it that the AirPods Studio will make an appearance at the Apple event in October, where Apple is also expected to announce the new iPhone 12.
