Dreading the need to pack your car for a family holiday? Don’t worry, a Tetris master from the UK is here to help.

Dan VThe country’s reigning champion in Tetris (the computer game that involves carefully stacking shapes) has joined forces with Dacia to ‘offer his best tips’ for ‘successfully filling your car boot with minimal stress’, using his years of Tetris experience.

Your first piece of advice? Organization.

The champion says: “Just like in Tetris, recognising patterns and knowing the shapes you can find is key – identify and sort your items by size and type. This way, you’ll know exactly where to put your beachwear, snacks and other essentials, making sure everything fits together perfectly.”

Second on the list? DanV says: ‘Keep everything compact. In Tetris, creating spaces can lead to tricky situations, and packing is no different. Compress flexible items, like clothing, to minimize the space they take up. By maximizing every inch of your luggage, you can fit more items into smaller spaces without leaving any empty spaces.’

Finally, just as the Tetris matrix has a “limited space” where “overload” means “game over,” so too does the trunk of a car.

DanV says: ‘Travel light. Avoid carrying unnecessary items like heavy jackets. Focus on carrying only the essentials and things needed for summer, like shorts and sandals, so your packing is light and manageable.’

DanV’s advice comes at a time when almost a quarter of British holidaymakers admit they struggle to fit everything into their car, according to a survey of 2,000 adults by Dacia.

One in five Britons say they have even had to leave items behind due to lack of space in the boot.

Getting your car ready is the most stressful part of a weekend getaway, according to 12 per cent of Britons.

And it could be causing family fights.

Nearly 20 per cent of Britons say a forgotten holiday item has sparked an argument.

Luke Broad, Dacia UK Brand Director, said: “Almost a quarter of Brits struggle to pack ahead of summer getaways, so we understand the challenges that can arise before the trip has even begun. At Dacia, we focus on the essentials and celebrate the spirit of adventure.”

‘That’s why we’ve teamed up with UK Tetris champion DanV, who brings his expertise with gaming-inspired tips on how to pack your car efficiently to help create a smooth and enjoyable trip. We want to make packing the car a breeze this summer and keep the focus on creating unforgettable memories.’
