Spider season is upon us and Brits can expect an invasion of these eight-legged creatures until October.
There are around 660 different species of spiders in the UK, and while most will never venture indoors, every autumn homeowners can expect a freight of house spiders.
Luckily, for arachnophobes who can’t stand looking at these creatures, a TikToker has shared some simple methods you can use to repel them from your home.
In a video posted by the cleaning company’s account Purdy and FiggThe TikToker showed three ways to prevent attacks.

Sharing on the professional cleaning account Purdyandfigg, the TikToker cleaned the doors of her house with peppermint oil
Sharing to her 301,000 followers, the TikToker, known for her clever cleaning tips, advised buying peppermint oil to clear them up.
While cleaning the inside of her windows with oil, she explained: “My house is petrified of spiders, that’s why we always add peppermint oil to cotton and wipe down the entrances because they hate the smell.”
Her next tip was to keep tidying up, she said: “We always make sure to declutter storage areas regularly to minimize the areas they can hide in and always keep them clean.”
The TikToker’s latest tip was to cut back exterior foliage, she said: “We cut back any vegetation near the perimeter of the house because spiders use them as paths inside.”

The TikToker made sure to clear out any overgrown shrubs outside, to prevent spiders from finding a way inside.
The video has since been viewed 15,000 times and received hundreds of saves from other arachnophobes.
If the TikToker’s tricks failed to deter the creatures, experts at BedroomsOnline.co.uk revealed other ways to keep them away.
Indoors expert Nic Shacklock said: ‘Spider mating season is in full swing from late August to September, meaning many of us could be facing an infestation.
According to experts, spraying white vinegar in dark corners and sealing small cracks are some of the best ways to deter them from leaving your home.
They urged people to deal with them before spider eggs are laid, which could lead to an infestation.
He added: “Spiders hate the smell of lavender and mint, so it’s worth spraying these scents around your home.”
For terrified arachnophobes, Nic added: “It’s also important to plug any holes in the house that they could potentially crawl through.
