A mother has been slammed for the “unreasonable” list of demands she made for a potential babysitter – with thousands branding her “pathetic” and “cheap”.
Tammy, from the US, was in desperate need of childcare and needed someone who could look after her four children “as soon as possible”.
The mother decided to post an ad for the $6-an-hour position locally and list some desirable criteria — but it all went downhill from there.
Tammy’s ad was criticized because it required a master’s degree, no social media and no tattoos or piercings.
She also needed the babysitter to cook and clean up after the kids, and run errands for the family in her free time.

A photo of the ad recently went viral due to its “ridiculous” content.
“We need a babysitter ASAP!” I need someone to watch my four children (ages 2, 3, 5 and 7) from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and occasionally on weekends,” it reads.
“Must be an excellent cook and avid cleaner, over 25 years old with a master’s degree.”
The would-be babysitter also needed five professional references and could not have any social media accounts, tattoos or piercings.
However, some of the mother’s requests were reasonable: “No drinking, no smoking, and no vaping.”
“A background check and drug test will be conducted,” the notice warns.
“This job pays $200 a week – but you must have your own transportation to get to and from the house while running errands.”
Many were shocked by the ad and revealed their anger.
“I wouldn’t do this for $200 a day,” one babysitter said. “You will never find a single human being who meets these qualifications. Even a nun wouldn’t have five professional references or agree to submit to a drug test.
“I hope this is some kind of joke. The audacity is incredible,” wrote another.
“Even Mary Poppins doesn’t fit in this list,” one woman said. ‘Ridiculous.’
“Does Tammy have a master’s degree – or does she just come out of nowhere?” » asked another.
But some revealed that caring for children should not be considered a “traditional” job with 9 to 5 hours or a paycheck.
“My daughter received a call to do summer babysitting for two six-year-old boys,” one mother said. “During the interview, she realized both boys were on the spectrum and almost non-verbal.”
“She immediately felt connected to the boys and agreed to take the position, even though the mother was a single parent and could only pay $30 a day.
“My daughter took the job and worked for them all summer. I wish more of us had the mindset of my 16 year old self.
