A mother was shocked when she discovered her ex-partner and his new girlfriend were planning to ‘steal’ her daughter’s name and use it for their new baby.
Lana*, 35, is a single mother who became pregnant after a “drunken affair” with one of her friends, Harry*.
The duo decided to keep the baby and co-parent while continuing to be friends, but everything changed when Harry met his longtime girlfriend and they decided to start a family.
Lana was happy for the couple and tried to help out as often as possible by being flexible with her 10-year-old child and offering to babysit in the future if the new parents needed a night all to themselves.
“I made it clear that I wanted the children to have a close relationship despite having different mothers, and I was thrilled that my daughter would have a sibling,” Lana explained, but visiting the new baby in the hospital caused a wave of confusion. , pain and anger.

“When they presented the baby to us, I was shocked. They used my daughter’s name. This didn’t seem to be a problem for her when she presented the baby to us, bold as copper.
“Harry seemed uncomfortable and wouldn’t look at me. I asked them what they were playing but Harry told me to calm down and not overreact while his girlfriend told me she didn’t see the problem.
At first, Lana thought they were trying to honor her daughter.
“But no, they just liked the name and thought it was pretty. I asked them if they planned to use a nickname or middle name when addressing her on a daily basis and Harry’s girlfriend’s response was was that she didn’t see the need for it.
Lana was extremely upset and told the new parents they were “ridiculous” and “scary.”
“I told Harry he would have no soul if he took this. He tried to claim that our daughter could use a nickname – but I stopped immediately.
“Why is it more reasonable for a girl who has been using this name for a decade to change her name compared to a baby who didn’t yet have a clue what a name was?”
Lana revealed Harry’s girlfriend called her a “slut” for stressing her out after giving birth and had her removed from the hospital for being “disruptive”.
‘I know the name they want to give their child is their choice, they could have named him Dinosaur for all I care, but it’s a name that should be banned or adjusted.
“They even have the same last name they have the same father… something about it just seemed malicious and deliberate, like she was trying to replace my daughter and they both threw this at us like that during from the first meeting, it was very strange. .’
