A wedding planner has revealed the one thing brides should always do before their big day.

Courtney Bradley, who describes herself as a “bride’s best friend,” regularly shares her helpful tips and advice on TikTok.

Most recently, the Greater Boston content creator revealed the one thing brides should do well before they get married.

And it’s all about opening the packages as soon as they arrive – after she learned this the hard way during her own engagement.

In the clip, which has so far been viewed over 43,000 times, Courtney begins: “I literally beg the brides I speak to to remember this advice.

“If you’re planning a shower, party, wedding reception or anything, please listen because it will save you a lot of stress and keep you from putting out fires at the last minute.”

She continued: “When you’re shopping for all your decor – and pretty much anything – first, take the price tags off everything as you go, because you’re getting a manicure the week before your wedding and you’re ruining your nails.

“This is where the main thing comes in. Take everything out of the package. Don’t wait a week before or when you’re in the middle of building everything to remove items from the package.

She explained that she ordered 50 white lanterns to hang from her wedding tent at the reception and “waited until the day or the day before” to open the packaging.

Courtney discovered too late that the fixtures did not come with metal parts to hold the lanterns open and were therefore unusable.

“SOS, open everything as soon as you get it and remove all price tags,” the content creator concluded.

The brief TikTok clip was quickly flooded with comments from followers grateful for its insight.

Courtney responded, “Thank you!” I promise you it’s a really good habit to get into every party, vacation, etc.

Another added: “I’m legit opening everything lol. I started making stuff for September next year.

A third chimed in: “I’m doing this haphazardly because I’m so excited to open things up for my wedding.” I have to see them lol.’

“YES please, preparation is so important,” a fourth commenter wrote.

Courtney, who was a wedding consultant when she was at university, previously said she was motivated to become a full-time wedding planner to help women feel confident ahead of their special day.

She started her own business with over a decade of experience and now helps brides-to-be plan their dresses, venue, guest lists, flowers and more.
