Taking a long flight can be an uncomfortable experience at the best of times, but it’s made even worse if your stomach growls.
Fortunately, flight attendants have come up with a useful set of travel hacks, and foods that socialites should avoid at all costs.
While wolfing down chocolates and chips may be tempting, cabin crew members have recommended healthier snacks.
According the washington postSeveral aircrew personnel recommend eating low-salt foods, which they say will help keep energy levels up and reduce post-flight swelling.
In addition to low-sodium foods, cabin crew members also recommend tourists bring foods like carrots or celery sticks, as well as protein bars and dried fruit.
Protein-rich foods are a popular choice among flight attendants, but junk food and breaded rolls are last on the list.

And nuts were also high on their to-go list, though they suggested avoiding peanuts, as some passengers might be allergic to them.
Michael Rice, a member of the cabin crew of a budget airline, recommended eating bananas.
He added: ‘When you’re just starting out, you can pack, like, six bananas. When you land, they are all brown or black.
Instead of overpacking bananas, he suggested taking just one or two on board the plane.
Another flight attendant recommended foods like hard-boiled eggs and fish fillets, although so-called smelly foods could cause some controversy.
Meanwhile, a former flight attendant on TikTok shared her top tips for curbing cravings during long-haul travel.
Kat Kamalani, who was a flight attendant for six years, made a list of all the groceries she takes on long trips.
In her video, Kat said, “Whether I’m traveling for business, family, vacation, or work, this is what I always bring.”

Giving some extra “travel hacks,” Kat explained that she puts her food inside an insulated bag and places an ice pack on top of her items to keep them fresh.
And she says she always brings a bottle of water to “stay hydrated.” Kat added: ‘First, I always make sure I pack vegetables and a piece of fruit.
‘Then I always have to have something to curb my sweet tooth when I travel. I love these SkinnyDipped travel packs and I love that they are packed with clean ingredients.’
Like Michael, Kat’s snacks relied on protein to help keep her energy levels up; she even creates her own homemade recipes from her.
“I love traveling with protein items like these protein balls,” she said. “I never leave home without my protein waffles, because they are so satisfying and nutritious.”
Other airplane food experts have suggested avoiding pasta on planes because it “doesn’t reheat well,” while bagels and sandwiches can be high in carbohydrates and worsen jet lag, they say.
