Sunna van Kampen, known as @tonichealth on TikTok, took aim at Aldi's £1.25 high protein banana pancakes

A fitness expert has revealed the one item he will never buy at Aldi – because it is “full of rubbish”.

UK-based influencer Sunna van Kampen, known as @tonichealth on TikTok, has set out to debunk the bold claims brands make on their packaging and reveal what’s really included in our favorite cut-price foods.

As she puts it in her profile, her goal is to deliver the “daily truth about health” as a fitness blogger.

Earlier this month, Sunna, who has more than 400,000 followers on the video-sharing platform, took aim at Aldi’s £1.25 high-protein banana pancakes, leaving some TikTokers wryly commenting that they “don’t can eat anything these days.”

‘Stop buying protein pancakes at Aldi.

‘Because? Because they are actually not that rich in protein. They’re actually highly processed and have a lot of additives that you don’t want in your body – junk.’

However, keen to offer his viewers an alternative, Sunna adds: “And making protein pancakes is super easy.”

Explain that you can make a healthier version by mixing three eggs with a banana and some protein powder.

“Mix it all together, fry it and that’s it,” he adds.

In the caption, Sunna goes into more detail, writing: ‘Stop buying protein pancakes from Aldi.

‘While they may seem like a quick fix, they are often full of additives and not as healthy as they seem.

“Choose whole foods and make your own for a better, cleaner option.”

The influencer, who has more than 400,000 followers on TikTok, explained that Aldi's product is not actually rich in protein and in fact contains many additives.

Influencer Sunna encouraged viewers to “choose whole foods,” but not everyone was convinced.

But while Sunna is convinced his recipe makes “an amazing pancake without all the additives and junk” in no time, not everyone appreciated his advice.

One TikToker joked: “3 eggs with a banana and a ‘little protein powder’ is a banana omelet.”

Another lamented: “I can’t eat anything these days.”

However, others appreciated Sunna’s advice, with one person enthusing: ‘Tired of processed foods!

‘This is what ruined my insides! we just need real food.”

A fourth viewer seemed to agree that processed foods “taste rotten too.”

However, while it pulls no punches when it comes to Aldi’s protein pancakes, Sunna seems unlikely to turn its back on the discount supermarket.
