A doctor has revealed the five foods you would never eat – and many of them could pose a serious threat to your health.

The information was shared in a new TikTok video posted by Based in California Dr. Jessica Besowho specializes in family medicine.

Dr. Kiss, who goes by the username @askdrmom on social media, often uses the platform to share medical advice and knowledge, and this time was no different.

“Here are five things I would never eat as a doctor,” Dr. Kiss said at the beginning of the video.

Starting at number one, the medical professional said she would never consume reheated fried rice, calling it a “one-time-only situation.”

Dr Jessica Kiss has revealed the five foods you would never eat – and many of them could pose a serious threat to your health.

‘B. cereus, a type of bacteria, comes out when boiled rice is left at room temperature for a while and then, above all, it reactivates if you reheat it in the microwave in a way that is not efficient enough,’ he explained.

Bacillus cereus can cause food poisoning, according to Cleveland Clinicand even serious complications that could lead to death.

“That’s because it produces spores, so it’s not as simple as killing the bacteria, you also have to kill the spores, it’s not worth it,” the doctor continued.

However, Dr. Kiss noted that it might be okay to eat it when it’s in a rice cooker on the “warm” setting, but consuming it at room temperature should be avoided entirely.

Next on his list was any food that had been out during a picnic.

“I would rather be hungry than eat food that has been out, because the risk of foodborne illness is too high,” he explained.

According to the Food and Drug AdministrationYou never want your picnic food to be in what’s called “the danger zone”: between 40°F and 140°F for two hours.

And, if the outside temperature is above 90°F, you’ll want to reduce it to one hour.

Bacteria can multiply “rapidly” at these temperatures, according to the FDA, which can cause food poisoning.

“I’ve seen it happen so many times, after holiday weekends like this, emergency rooms are flooded with people suffering from foodborne illnesses…they eat right away or they just eat later,” Dr. Kiss added .

As a third rule, Dr. Kiss said she would avoid eating things that “match the color of your hair,” which is dyed pink and purple.

“Sometimes I will, this probably isn’t an absolute thing for me, but I would say 99 percent of the time I won’t eat things that are covered in food coloring,” she shared.

“It’s just not good for your system, I don’t want to poop neon for the next week either, so yeah, I avoid it like the plague.”

His fourth way of avoiding food was to eat anything from a dented can, for fear of botulism.

Botulism is a rare but life-threatening disease caused by botulinum toxin, which can appear in foods that have been “poorly canned” or fermented, according to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“If a can is dented and I wasn’t the one who saw me drop it right then and there, I’m going to worry about botulism,” Dr. Kiss admitted in the video.

“Botulism is not a fun thing, so yeah, I just won’t eat it, it’s not worth fifty dollars if I had the means to get a can that’s not dented,” he said.

Finally, the last thing he admitted he would never eat is definitely something “weird,” and it’s grapefruit.

“The reason is that many medications interact with grapefruit,” Dr. Kiss revealed.

For example, grapefruit may interact with some anti-anxiety medications and medications to prevent high blood pressure, among many others, according to The FDA.

“The way grapefruit is processed in the body interacts with a ton, I mean a ton, of medications, so if you are taking any medications for any reason, you should always check that there are no interactions with grapefruit that will change the way the medication affects your body,” he concluded.
