A divorce lawyer has revealed some of the strangest arguments she has ever witnessed – clients fighting over everything from batteries to horse sperm.
Holly J. Moore of Southern California has been practicing law for more than 16 years and, having helped with more than 2,000 separations, she has seen some really strange things.
The 43-year-old man, who also does prenuptial agreements and custody cases, he has a wide list of clients from the “average Joe” to NFL stars, and even had a client who was in the FBI Witness protection program.
Holly frequently shares career tips and tidbits on social media, entertaining and educating her 224,000 Instagram followers.
Now, the expert is revealing just how complicated prenups and divorces can really be.

Holly shared: ‘I’ve had some really interesting cases, certainly some eye-openers.
‘I had a prenuptial agreement where the most important asset was horse sperm for reproduction. tThey had a very expensive horse and they wanted to protect that horse’s semen.
‘It was definitely a first for me, but I thought it was interesting.
“Everything has its own little world, so I wasn’t familiar with the world of horse racing; it was fascinating.”
He continued: ‘In another case, I represented the husband [in a divorce].
‘We were going through the spreadsheet of everything in the house and assigning a value to it, such as the sofa, two large dining sets, etc.
‘The wife asked: “What’s wrong with all the batteries?”
‘I wanted to know about the batteries in the TV remote control and the wall clock and things like that. tThat was a little strange.
Now, the expert is shedding light on just how complicated prenuptial agreements and divorces can really be.
Elsewhere, Holly commented: ‘II also represented someone in the witness protection program, where the FBI handled everything; It was very fascinating.
“And I’ve worked with professional athletes and NFL stars who get paid per touchdown.”
He added: “I just entered into a prenuptial agreement where someone had hundreds of thousands of sea corals that they wanted to protect.
‘He was also a professional pinball machine player, something I didn’t know existed.
‘I expose myself to new things [frequently] and I have to learn at least a little about it to be able to represent them properly.’
The graduate of Western State University in Orange County charges a pretty penny for her work with an hourly rate of $600.
But by sharing some advice for free, Holly dispelled a common myth about divorces, explaining: ‘A Many people think that things are split 50/50, but this is a big mistake.

For those who want to get married, the lawyer also urges that they always draft a prenuptial agreement, even if they do not sign it.
‘[As an example]California is a community property state. This means that things acquired during the marriage are divided equally, but not those obtained before.There are so many complex nuances with credits, refunds, and loopholes.
“People also think that if they leave the house, they are giving up their rights to it, but that is simply not true.”
For those who want to get married, the lawyer also urges that they always draft a prenuptial agreement, even if they do not sign it.
While he doesn’t recommend it, he says it serves as a way to ease all the difficult conversations that need to be had before marriage.
“People put so much emphasis on the wedding that the marriage itself falls by the wayside and that is a big mistake.
‘Nothing good comes easy and every relationship will have ups and downs.
“I’m an old soul, but I think everyone gives up too easily – quitting their job.” [and] divorce your spouse.

‘There are many times when people get divorced and talk about bad things in the relationship and in their partner, that they knew about before they got married.
‘Similar core values are enormously important. Many marital discords revolve around a difference in worldview, different opinions on raising children. [and] Even a difference in work ethic.’
Holly concluded: “Every divorce comes down to one thing: the other person is not meeting your fundamental human needs.
‘We all have four specific human needs: to feel special, to experience variety both in emotions and in our practical lives, to have the stability of basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter, and to be loved and cared for.
‘If you looked at all the divorces, one or both people lacked one or more of those basic needs.
“It manifests itself in many different ways, such as infidelity, addiction, abuse, but these are symptoms of an underlying problem.”
