A criminologist has revealed the main situations in which you should always lie and has used these tips to protect yourself for decades.

Dannah Eve has degrees in psychology and criminology and warned never to tell a stranger you are alone in a public place.

The American self-defense professional encouraged people to lie about where they live, their marital status, and whether or not anyone knows their location.

“A safety tip that I have applied in my own life since I was a child is to lie to survive and lie for your safety,” she said in a video.

‘If you ever find yourself in a situation where someone says, “Does anyone know you’re here?” His answer 100 percent of the time is “yes.”

Dannah Eve, an American, has degrees in psychology and criminology and warned against telling a stranger that you are alone in a public place.

“You are never alone, you are always waiting for someone, probably a male figure, and someone always knows where you are, even if that is not the case.”

The professional said that you should never feel guilty for being dishonest in these circumstances.

“Remember that you lie to de-escalate a situation or prevent it from getting worse altogether,” he said.

“Your goal is to get home safely every night, and lying is a wonderful first line of defense.”

Dannah described several situations in which it could be dangerous to tell the truth.

“If you’re in the elevator of the building you live in and someone you don’t recognize asks you if you live there, don’t say yes,” he said.

She recommended saying you were visiting friends from college or dropping off items for your siblings.

Dannah also revealed that you should never admit where your home address is to a taxi driver.

“Let’s say you’re visiting family friends or on your way to a surprise party,” he recommended.

An especially scary situation can be when you are having a drink alone in a bar and a strange man approaches you.

‘If someone who gives you a bad vibe sits next to you and asks you: “What is a girl like you doing here alone?”

‘Say, “I’m just waiting for my boyfriend” or “Waiting for some of my friends; they should be here any minute” or “I’m just waiting for my husband, he’s outside the parking lot.”‘

Last but not least, Dannah also recommended not admitting that you were new to a city.

“Let’s say you’re visiting friends but you lived right down the street,” he advised.
