I’m a 6ft 2in woman and dating is almost “impossible”

Date:

A six-foot-two-inch woman who was bullied for her height candidly reveals how nearly impossible dating is.

Marie Tamara, of Palm Beach, Florida, said she’s been battling stigmas her entire life, but the biggest struggle has been finding a partner.

The 28-year-old said critics claimed she couldn’t be tall and feminine – but she’s determined to prove them wrong.

She now hopes to change the stigma that “men have to be the tallest in a relationship.”

Mary said dating was difficult because only two percent of the population in her native Florida is over six feet three inches tall.

I will admit that it is very difficult to find a man taller than me. She told NeedToKnow.co.uk that dating my height is near impossible because she’s so limited.

One guy I met on a date said he was 6’5 on his online dating profile but when I met him he was 5’11 at most.

I’ve been told “No one likes tall girls,” I look like a “man in heels,” “I’m too heavy to be a girl” and that “Giants are looking for a linebacker.”

I will never wear heels and slouch in public. I would do anything to appear shorter in terms of conformity.

However, I recently started dating shorter guys and now that I’m open to dating any height it’s much easier to date.

But sometimes it is still difficult to find a suitable man for being taller than him.

I hope to change the stigma that “men have to be the tallest in a relationship” because height doesn’t have to matter.

“I don’t mind being a foot or two taller than any man.”

Mary weighed 12 pounds at birth and throughout her childhood was always at least a head taller than all the other children in her school class.

She continued, ‘Being the tallest in school was a challenge for me because I was frequently bullied for being so much taller and different from everyone else.

The children would pick on me and call me man or house because I was taller and heavier than most male teachers.

I had no friends and the other kids made fun of me so badly, that I had lunch alone in the bathroom stall.

“Looking at that, I don’t know how kids can be so cruel to someone just because they look different.”

But despite constant bullying, Mary has blossomed into a beacon of self-confidence.

Incredibly, she is the shortest member of her family – her father stands at 6’3, her mother is 6’5, her brother is 6’9, and her younger brother is 6’10.

Mary still has to contend with the challenges of being a taller woman, and struggles to find clothes and shoes that fit.

Mary, who often gets compliments on her long legs, added:

“Nowadays, I embrace my curves as a plus-size model,” added Mary, who often receives praise for her long legs.

She added: ‘The pants are not long enough and I can’t find my shoe size which is a men’s size 12.

I have to have all my clothes and shoes made to order, which can be very expensive and time consuming.

Plus, most are made for average-sized people, so everyday things can be a bit trickier for me like cars, planes, roller coasters, doorways, shower heads, toilets, beds, and other household appliances are almost always too small for me.

There are also advantages that come with Mary being taller than most because she excels at sports and often receives praise for her long legs.

She said: ‘I get generally positive comments about my height now and many short kings compliment me on my long legs, calling me ‘long-legged mom’, saying ‘we’re all about the same height lying down’ and ‘I used to climb that tree.’

Mary, who weighs in at 210 pounds, added: ‘Nowadays, I embrace my curves as a plus-size model, I’m proud to be tall and I try to inspire others that being tall and different is beautiful.

I am now very feminine because I never want to be a man again and I am trying to change the stigma that being tall is not a masculine trait.

You can be a tall girl and still be feminine.

I just hope to inspire others and show them that being tall, plus-sized, and different is a beautiful thing and nothing to be ashamed of.

“Also, to try and change the dating stigma that short kings and tall queens don’t belong together.”
