Steph Pase from Sydney had a conversation with her Gen Alpha daughter and asked her about other children’s names.

Shocked by the comment, Steph went on to list other names, including Ryan, Steph, and Michelle.

But her daughter said “no” and told her the names of the people in her class.

“It makes me realise that we are that generation… our parents’ generation. Names like Karen, Helen or Joanna,” Steph continued.

“It’s just wild and now we’re that generation that has those old people’s names.”

Steph was surprised to learn that her name was probably also considered “old” to Generation Alpha.

“I asked my six-year-old daughter, ‘Do you have anyone in your year named Sarah, Alex, Jack or Daniel?’ She laughed and said, ‘Those are old people’s names!'” the millennial mom said in a video.

Since then, the video has caught the attention of thousands of parents, and most of them can relate.

“As a primary school teacher, each year the names become further and further away from those I know, but the children know nothing else,” wrote one.

“I work in childcare, I literally had this conversation with my fellow educators yesterday. It’s a very strange thought that these names are outdated,” said another.

“Luna, Harper and Arlo are the new Ashley, Jessica and Stephanie,” declared a third.

Another mother chimed in and said that her children’s class names are Lamb, Honey, Hazard, Blu, and Bambi.

“I’m a millennial and my children are called Colette, Azekiel and Imogen,” confessed another.

Other common names among Generation Alpha include Vision, Stoney, Diesel, Hennesy, Blaze, Cruze, Kingdom, Ace, Boss, Oasis, Mercedes, and Destiny.

“Yes! In my daughter’s class there is a pharaoh, Koa, Imara,” said another mother.

“All my daughters’ friends have old fashioned names: Charlotte, Ophelia, Nina, Emmi, April, Violet, Stevie, Clare, Harriet and Wendy,” another person wrote.

But one childcare worker added: “We still have the classics like Jack, Liam, Claire and Daniel, but there’s a huge range.”
