Idina Menzel hilariously commemorated the 10th anniversary of John Travolta changing his name at the 2014 Oscars.
A decade after the Pulp Fiction star, 70, introduced her to the crowd as ‘Adele Dazeem’ after struggling to read the teleprompter, the actress and singer, 52, celebrated her alter ego’s birthday in TikTok.
‘Hello, Adele Dazeem, I’m Idina Menzel. I just want to say happy birthday,” she said in the clip.
“Sending you lots of love and positive energy, I hope you have the best, best day,” he added, before proceeding to sing happy birthday.

His fans were delighted with the clip, and one of them wrote: ’10 years already? Adele Dazeem is growing up so fast!’
“I think about Adele Dazeem at least once a day,” another added.
‘How come our little Adele Dazeem is already in double digits?!’ someone else asked.
“Happy birthday too ‘The Wickedly Talented’ Adele Dazeem,” another person chimed in, quoting Travolta.
Menzel, who voices Elsa in the hit Disney franchise Frozen, was at the Oscars to perform the film’s hit song, ‘Let It Go,’ when Travolta made his viral mistake.
“There will always be a special place in my heart for the movie musical and for the songs that create its most memorable moments,” he said during the introduction.
“Here to perform the gorgeously empowering Oscar-nominated song “Let It Go” from the Oscar-winning animated film Frozen, please welcome the one and only, wildly talented Adele Dazeem.”
After the moment went viral on social media, Menzel and Travolta were invited to perform together next year at the 2015 ceremony.
And Idina got the chance to get back at John when she jokingly introduced him as “Glom Gazingo.”

Idina got the chance to get revenge on John when she jokingly introduced him as ‘Glom Gazingo’.
The Grease star then came up on stage and hugged her before patting the Wicked star on the face and accepting the joke.
“I deserve it, but you, my dear, my beautiful and talented Idina Menzel,” he added, finally correctly pronouncing the phrase he was supposed to say the year before.
“You got it, it’s not like it’s going to follow me for the rest of my life or anything,” he commented jokingly, to which John responded, “Yeah, tell me.”
This isn’t the first time Menzel has joked about the iconic moment on social media.
During the 2022 ‘Not My Name’ TikTok challenge, she shared Adele alongside her other famous alter egos, including Elphaba in Wicked, Nancy in Enchanted, Rachel’s mother in Glee, Elsa in Frozen, and Maureen in Rent.
In 2015, Travolta admitted that he partially blames actress Goldie Hawn for the unforgettable mistake.
Speaking with Jimmy Kimmel, he revealed the series of events that led to his confusing and hilarious mistake.
“The truth is that they were waiting for me backstage and it was getting close to the time I was supposed to leave and suddenly a page, an assistant of yours, grabbed me and told me that you would be out in a minute,” he said.
‘I thought: “What happened to 15 minutes?” and they didn’t explain it to me. I later found out that my real page got stuck in an elevator and I couldn’t contact anyone, so the backup came to get me.’
‘When I get backstage I meet Goldie Hawn. She is sexy, charismatic, beautiful and I was in awe, hugging her and loving her, forgetting that I had to do this part.

“So they were like, ‘Okay, you’re ready,’ and then they were like, ‘Oh, by the way, we changed Idina’s name to a phonetic spelling and I was like, ‘Wait, what do you mean?’ ‘Go!’ she said, showing mock panic.
‘So I go out, I get to his thing and I say ‘Huh?’ In my mind I’m thinking ‘What? What is that name? I don’t know that name.’ And it was this phonetic spelling, and I didn’t rehearse it that way.
Jimmy then jokingly asked if that meant it was “Goldie Hawn’s fault,” to which John laughed and replied, “Maybe.”
Despite the gaffe, John insisted that the singer has no hard feelings and even attributes the success of her career to him.
He added: ‘The beautiful news, and Idina really agrees, is that she has had one of the best years of her life and her career. And she gives me credit!’
