A beloved Sydney restaurant has announced its closure, albeit temporarily, after eight years delighting Australian foodies with delicious Italian food.
Big Poppa’s in Darlinghurst is an award-winning late-night restaurant where Australians dine on modern European cuisine, gourmet cheeses and wine.
The venue usually hosts non-stop hip hop music until 3am every night of the week.
While Big Poppa’s managed to keep its doors open during 21 months of remodeling in the area, the dozens of roadblocks and construction workers along the way have affected the experience for both workers and customers.
The restaurant has just revealed that it will stop serving customers on Sunday, May 19.

Foodies shouldn’t worry too much: Big Poppa’s will reopen once construction is complete, although the restaurant can’t provide a specific date at this time.
“It is with a heavy heart that we must announce that Big Poppa’s will be temporarily closing, until the redevelopment of the block around us is complete,” the restaurant said online.
‘We need to be able to trade without obstacles and we believe there are too many in our way at the moment.
‘We hope construction is completed as quickly as possible and we can reopen our doors with some new and interesting neighbors!’
The restaurant promised they would be “100 percent back” as soon as possible.
More than 1,000 foodies rated the restaurant five stars, praising the “immaculate ambiance,” top-notch service and delicious food.
‘Iconic! “It’s perfect for date nights – as soon as you walk in, you’re greeted with friendly smiles and a delicious pasta aroma,” said one.
‘What I am going to do? Where am I going to go? another moaned.
“My 30th birthday celebration won’t be the same without the 2am ragu,” one woman wrote.
“I’m looking forward to reopening, I can’t wait to eat more pastas and cheese boards,” said one man.
