An iconic band from the 2000s begins the year 2025 with a grand comeback in January with the release of a new album, their seventh.
The Kooks, who rose to fame in 2006 with their hits Naive, Ooh La and You Don’t Love Me, will also be performing a number of live performances across the UK.
The band, consisting of singer Luke Pritchard, guitarist Hugh Harris and drummer Alexis Nunez, reportedly returned to their old sound for the new tracks and “nailed it.”
A source said the sun: ‘The Kooks are back and their new album is electric. They have returned to their innovative sound and created some concrete hits.
‘When they entered the studio, they had no expectations and were just having fun.
‘But they have released a brilliant album. Some of the tracks are really reminiscent of songs from their early albums. And they can’t wait for their fans to hear them.”

Signing to Virgin Records just three months after forming, the Kooks burst into the musical mainstream with their debut album Inside In/Inside Out.
They found themselves attracting media attention when they won Best UK & Ireland Act at the 2006 MTV Europe Music Awards and earned a nomination at the Brit Awards for the single She Moves in Her Own Way.

Last year, The Kooks responded to a viral TikTok cover of their biggest hit in the best way possible.
The indie band released a clip of musician Calum Bowie performing the song.
Calum, who had 423,000 followers on TikTok, is known for singing songs with his guitar from his window in Edinburgh.
In the original video, Calum received a crumpled £20 from a passer-by on the street below who was impressed by his version of the song.
He told the viewer that he wasn’t actually busking and that they didn’t need to give him anything, but when the fan wouldn’t take no for an answer, he continued singing and smiling.
The Kooks came across the fan video and decided to get in on the action by editing themselves into the clip.
The gang, who looked unrecognizable, managed to make it look like they were the ones trying to give Calum the cash from the street below.
Calum was shocked to see The Kooks stitch their video and commented: ‘No way. This is absolute gold.’
Fans were thrilled to see the hilarious video on social media, writing: ‘This is amazing!’
‘This has to be the best stitch ever made; This is the biggest thing I’ve ever seen in my life; In fact, I love them very much, one of my favorite bands; Those guys are so cute.
