Ice-T may demand respect for the badge on Law & Order: SVU, but he didn’t show much for it after he was pulled over during a traffic stop in New Jersey.
The actor, who recently shared his secret about his 24-year marriage to wife Coco Austen, was caught on camera having a heated argument with a cop on bodycam video from an incident in May.
On tape, divided by TMZ and the YouTube channel Unspoken crime murdersa Hudson County sheriff’s deputy pulled the rapper over and walked to the car. He tells the 66-year-old star that he was stopped because the tags have expired and the license plate on the front of his Porsche is missing.
The Grammy winner explained that he was heading to the nearby DMV to take care of all that. The actor further claimed that the car had been ‘parked’ for the three years since the documentation expired.
“Yesterday I went to the DMV and they said their system wasn’t working, so I’m going there,” the actor said. “I have seven cars, I’m trying to get them all straight.”
When asked if he had an appointment, the Colors rapper replied that he did not and that the DMV employees “know me.” He also pointed out that his driver’s license had also expired. “That’s why I’m going to the DMV.”
Ice-T was caught on camera having an angry verbal interaction with a New Jersey officer during a traffic stop in May 2024
“Sir, you are not allowed to drive with an expired license and license plate,” the officer told him.
‘Why don’t you follow me to that garage over there? The DMV is there. You don’t have to be so serious about this,” Ice-T suggested. “I mean, you can, but you don’t have to.”
The deputy tells him it’s “serious” as he continued to inspect the paperwork presented.
“I could park the car here and walk to the DMV,” Ice-T offered.
The deputy then tells him, “I’m going to tow your vehicle.”
“You ain’t gonna tow my damn vehicle,” the rapper responded.
The officer then told the actor to give him his keys, which he did, and told Ice-T he was “going to tow your vehicle.”
When the actor again suggested he park the car, the officer said, “You’re not going to tell me what to do.” I’m going to tell you what to do.
“If I’m not arrested, I’m getting out of my car,” the NAACP Image Award winner said before demanding his “f**king paperwork” be returned.
The Law & Order: SVU actor was pulled over for driving his Porsche with expired tags and a missing front tag. Ice-T explained that he went to the DMV to take care of that and that he had tried to resolve it the day before, but the DMV’s system was broken.
The rapper suggested that the officer follow him to the DMV or have him park his car and walk to the DMV to register the Porsche and six other cars. Instead, the officer said he would have the vehicle towed and told Ice-T to turn in his keys, which he did
“This motherfucker,” the rapper said as he stared into the bodycam. “Show this on camera,” Ice-T said. “Keep your distance,” the officer ordered, “
“I’m a foot away from the DMV,” the actor continued.
“Keep your distance,” the officer repeated.
Ice-T complied, but as he walked away he told the officer, “You’re a dick.”
“I’m not an asshole, you’ve been an asshole to me,” the deputy stated.
The rapper then began using his cell phone to record the interaction.
As he did so, the deputy called for backup and remained in his vehicle until another officer quickly arrived on scene.
“If I’m not arrested, I’m getting out of my car,” the NAACP Image Award winner said as he walked around the car and demanded his “f-ing papers” be returned. The officer returned to his vehicle and called for backup
“This mom,” the rapper said as he stared into the bodycam. “Show this on camera,” Ice-T said. “Keep your distance,” the officer ordered. Ice-T walked away and told the cop, “You’re an asshole.”
Reinforcements were called and after a sergeant arrived on scene the incident was dealt with. Ice-T received four tickets, including driving with a suspended driver’s license, but his car was not towed and he was allowed to walk to the DMV to pick it up and the others registered
The sergeant further asks Ice-T what’s going on.
‘I’m trying to get to the RDW to register my cars. I have all the paperwork and everything there. I asked the officer if I could just go over here and or even park my car so I could walk over there and get all my papers, and he says he wants to tow my car.”
Eventually, the Equal Standard actor was able to park his car and walk to the DMV and the officer who pulled him over gave him four tickets for driving with a suspended driver’s license, improper display, no inspection sticker and missing front plates.
The car was not towed and the keys and paperwork were returned to the TV officer, who was allowed to walk to the DMV to resolve the situation.
