Raisi arrives in Damascus on the first visit by an Iranian president since the conflict began
Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi arrived Wednesday morning in Damascus on an official visit, the first by an Iranian official in this position to the allied country since the outbreak of the conflict in 2011, according to the official Syrian media.
The official Syrian News Agency (SANA) reported that Raisi arrived at Damascus International Airport at the head of a “big political and economic ministerial delegation” for a two-day visit, during which he will meet his Syrian counterpart Bashar al-Assad and hold “extensive political and economic talks with him, followed by the signing of a number of agreements.”
