There’s a bizarre rumor going around about Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum’s wild years in 1970s London.

This week, The source claimed that the veteran music icon secretly married an Australian woman named Lynne in a star-studded wedding ceremony nearly 50 years ago.

The 80-year-old presenter, who is bisexual, was apparently living with Lynne when they decided to marry in a civil ceremony, although it’s unclear if they were dating at the time.

According to the publication, a “prominent Melbourne figure” who attended the ceremony recently took the lid off what really happened in a lengthy social media post.

“Molly decided he was going to marry (Lynne). So a civil marriage was arranged and he asked me and a man involved in the English band Slade to be his two witnesses,” the guest apparently wrote.

They claimed there were about 25 guests, most of whom were ‘Australian and English people in the music industry’.

“I don’t know what happened to the wedding photos or his marriage, but I signed his marriage certificate as a witness,” they added.

The user then claimed that Molly married the woman to “upset his good friend Elton John,” though it’s unclear how this would have affected him.

Lynne is said to be alive and, according to The Source, even responded to the message: “Thanks for the memories.”

However, another source told the publication that Molly and Lynne’s marriage was not legal and was simply an “excuse for a party.”

Molly is currently in a long-term relationship with businessman Yan Wonnggam.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Molly for comment.
