A man who previously weighed more than two baby elephants has revealed photos of the incredible results after losing a staggering 65 percent of his body weight.
Jeff Peters, 38, of Chicago, topped the scale at ‘over’ 500 pounds in 2017, but could only guess at his actual weight because the scale wasn’t high enough.
He is now the smallest he has been since childhood after losing a mind-boggling 325 pounds, bringing his weight down to 175 pounds.
But her transformation isn’t complete: She’s left with so much loose skin that it’s now a health concern in its own right.
Jeff said: ‘I had been big all my life. In fact, I’m smaller now than I was in third grade: my elementary school jacket is now two sizes too big.
Jeff at his heaviest was over 500 pounds, but he’s not exactly sure how much since his scale only went up to that amount and would give an “error” message when he stepped on them.

Jeff has now lost over 65% of his body weight and weighs 175 pounds thanks to following a strict low-carb diet and undergoing gastric sleeve surgery.

Despite overcoming the hurdle of losing a large amount of weight, Jeff is now left with a stark reminder of his former life thanks to carrying over 40 pounds of loose skin.
“My heaviest weight was over 500 pounds, although unfortunately I never had a scale that reached that height, that was in 2017.
“Then I watched one of my best friends die, he was two years older than me and weighed a little bit more, but seeing that made me want to make the switch.”
Despite realizing he wanted to lose weight, Jeff says the process was slow at first, but he took the small gains when he could.
By January 2019, Jeff says he was light enough to get more than an error message from his scale, but he continued to hover around 500 pounds for another couple of years.
Then in 2020, her father got sick and their marriage collapsed.
“All of that pushed me to get my life back,” he said.
Jeff started on a low carb diet, which he combined with weight lifting and cycling.
He said: “I would estimate my intake was around 2,000-2,500 calories per day, a big drop from my previous 5,000 per day.”
After losing 150 pounds, Jeff found that following a low-carb diet was no longer giving him the same results and was causing him some problems.
Doctors warn that following such a diet can lead to a variety of mild or fatal symptoms, including fatigue, headaches, dizziness and nausea, heart arrhythmias, osteoporosis, kidney damage, increased risk of cancer, and sudden death.
Jeff decided to have vertical gastric sleeve surgery, a procedure that reduces the size of the stomach, making patients feel full more quickly.
After the operation, Jeff lost another 175 pounds and consumed approximately 2,000 calories a day.
She reached her current weight in late May, but now doctors estimate she is carrying up to 40 pounds of loose skin.
Facing daily struggles to keep his body healthy, Jeff, with the help of his sister Sarah, is now fighting to raise the funds to surgically remove it and complete his transformation.
He said: ‘Even at my biggest it felt like loose skin, it just got stretched out so much for so long.
“But I really started to notice it after I lost about 150 pounds.
“Loose skin, unfortunately, comes with a lot of health issues in its own right – posture and spinal issues are really a concern.
‘I have developed a hump from the weight and current hanging skin.
Skin irritations, infections, and breakouts are a concern.
“It takes constant care and daily routines to make sure I keep it clean and healthy, including prescription creams to prevent eczema and skin lesions.”
He continued: ‘Doctors have determined that removal is medically necessary.
“Insurance doesn’t cover all aspects of that, though, so I’ll save for the remaining out-of-pocket costs.”
For anyone reading his story who is struggling to lose weight, Jeff has a simple message for you: “Never give up.”
He said: ‘Every day is difficult, some more difficult than the last, but at the end of the day, when you see the scale drop to 400, then 300, then 200, those are the moments you will remember.
‘You won’t remember that Italian steak you didn’t eat, or the Chinese takeout you didn’t get.
‘You will remember that feeling of ‘I did that’ and one day, you will achieve everything you planned in less time than you think.’

The 38-year-old has transformed his life, but now he needs life-saving surgery to remove the excess skin. Carrying it has had a huge impact on his body and he has developed a hunchback.

Jeff, pictured here after losing 200 pounds, was inspired to lose weight when one of his friends, who outweighed him, passed away.

Jeff says that his loose skin comes with many health issues in itself, including his posture and spine, and he faces a constant battle against skin irritations and infections and has daily routines to ensure he stays clean and healthy.

Jeff is now raising money to have surgery to get rid of the skin and he needs $25,000 to make it happen.

Jeff has a little advice for anyone struggling to lose weight: ‘never give up.’ He reveals that even though every day is hard, when you start to see the scales fall, it’s all worth it.
Jeff’s sister, Sarah Peters, created a GoFundMe to raise $25,000 for his procedure.
The total currently stands at $7,875, and Jeff reveals that he has been overwhelmed by people’s generosity.
He wrote: ‘I am incredibly humbled by everyone who donates to help me achieve the goal of these surgeries!
‘It’s still a long way with many surgeries to come in the next few years, but I’ll cross that finish line! I never imagined the kind of support that all of you have shown.
‘As many of you know, the total cost was significantly higher for all of them than I thought and had been able to save. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!’
