Georgia Young, from London, revealed her weekly hair routine to her 30,000 followers, which involves washing your hair just once.

The content creator took her followers through the different hairstyles she creates each day of the week to make her hair last longer between washes and make the feeling of greasy hair bearable.

She explained that washing infrequently is the secret to her hair being ‘so pretty and shiny’, adding: ‘I really just do it out of sheer laziness. I save the effort for the weekend when I go out.’

Day one

On the first day, Georgia washes and dries her hair before using a heatless curling iron to wrap her hair.

On the first day, Georgia said, “I’m going to work, I don’t really dress up for work, so I literally save it for the weekend when I really push myself.”

“But if my laziness is working for me, then I guess it’s working.”

She then added that another benefit of washing your hair once a week is that you have less heat damage because you style and dry your hair less.

After stepping out of the shower on day one, Georgia proceeded to blow-dry her hair and put on some styling mousse.

She then wrapped her hair around a heatless curling iron and slept with it.

Day two

After sleeping with her hair in the curling iron without heat overnight, Georgia’s hair on day two looked seductive and healthy.

She said she noticed a buildup of oil on the crown of her head, which led her to say: “If you dry shampoo your hair before it gets oily, the dry shampoo works against the oil to keep it from getting as greasy as it would be.” fine if you put it on top of already greasy hair.’

She then proceeded to spritz some dry shampoo into her hair, before styling it with the no-heat curling iron.

Meanwhile, she explained how a stylist told her that water can damage hair and that it “interferes with the internal protein binding of our hair.”

As the day drew to a close, Georgia swept her locks with a heatless curling iron before heading to bed.

She also offered her followers some tips on how to wash their hair less frequently.

She said: “It all depends on your scalp type, I know I’m saying, ‘Okay, wash your hair once a week,’ but sometimes you literally physically can’t.

“I just do alternative hairstyles so I can last the week.”

Day Three

On the third day, she decided to do the same hairstyle using her heatless rollers to add waves to her locks.

On the third day, Georgia woke up with wavy hair, having slept with the curling iron on without heat overnight.

She started the day by brushing her hair and debating which hairstyle to wear.

She explained that she often wears her hair in ponytails or buns because it hides fat more easily.

She said: ‘I normally scratch my hair back all week.

“Everyone’s been congratulating me this week saying, ‘Oh my gosh, your hair looks so good’ because no one sees me with my hair down at work.

“Because scratched back hair looks like mousse or gel and that’s okay because it’s greasy and no one knows about it.”

She then added some more dry shampoo and used her no-heat rollers to add waves to her hair, before opting to wear it down again.

Day four

By day four, Georgia felt her hair was starting to look a bit more washed-out, and she pulled the strands back into a ponytail instead.

By the end of the third day, Georgia felt that her hair was beginning to look a little more dingy, and she decided that by the fourth day, she would put the strands back in a ponytail.

She sectioned her hair into sections, creating side bangs, and then proceeded to apply dry shampoo to the front of her hair.

She then let it ‘set’ while she styled the rest of her hair with more dry shampoo.

She rubbed it all into her scalp and pulled her hair back into a high ponytail while letting her bangs sit to one side of her face.

She then parted the ponytail down the middle and grabbed a sock and clipped it on one side.

Georgia then wrapped her hair around the rest of the sock, before pinching the bottom of her hair and lifting the sock up.

She grabbed a hair band around the hair sock to hold it in her hair.

Then, she did the same to the other side of her ponytail.

Georgia put her bangs in a curling iron and trimmed them, along with any other loose hair.

In the morning, she pulled it all out to reveal a rather voluminous ponytail, which had been curled without using heat.

day five

As she entered her fifth day of not washing her hair, Georgia showed her followers the final look while holding her ponytail up to secure it.

Going into her fifth day without washing her hair, Georgia began by saying, ‘The main thing I’m taking away from this week so far is dry shampoo.

Kelly’s Top Tips for Washing Your Hair Less Often

1. Use dry shampoo to help your hair last longer between washes.

2. Brush your hair regularly to evenly distribute sebum

3. Play around with different hairstyles because if your hair is out of your face, it will ease the temptation to wash it.

Wash your hair with dry shampoo before it has a chance to get greasy.

“Dry shampoo as soon as you get out of the shower because that dry shampoo will combat any oil, grease, moisture for the whole week before it hits.

‘My hair has never looked so good on day five.’

She then divided the front of her bangs into two sections and proceeded to spray it with dry shampoo and rub it in.

Then she sprayed some more dry shampoo on the crown area and rubbed it in.

She said, “The crown area will probably have a lot of fat at this point, so I like to pay a little attention to that.”

Shen then pulled her hair into a low ponytail and then used rollers to curl half of her bangs, then repeat on the other side.

She then placed a clip under her ponytail to make sure it stays in place but also looks good.

day six

For the sixth day, Georgia did not share a video clip of her routine.

She later explained that she didn’t leave the house and just put her hair up in a ponytail all day.

Seventh day

Day seven is hair wash day for Georgia, as she said she shampoos twice and also uses a scrub to massage her scalp.

Looking at her hair, she said, “It’s not horrible, which is good.”

She then says she’s going to use a hair mask all over her head and uses it as a conditioner.

She then blow-dries her hair and repeats the weekly cycle.

But what does a salon owner think of washing his hair once a week?

Kelly Vowles, 40, runs her own salon in Swindon and believes that washing her hair once a week is beneficial for hair health.

She revealed the reason behind washing her hair less often, telling FEMAIL: “Your scalp contains sebaceous glands that basically produce something called sebum.” It is a natural oil that moisturizes the hair.

“When you go into a hair wash cycle too often, those sebaceous glands can go into overdrive and can produce extra sebum.

“The problem with that is that it can obviously make your hair greasy. But also, when you wash that sebum out frequently, it’s obviously not doing the job it wants to do, which is to hydrate and moisturize your hair.’

When asked if she should use dry shampoo before her hair gets greasy, like Georgia does, Kelly said: “Some people use it as a preventative measure, I think you have to find what works for you.”

“I personally use dry shampoo when my hair already feels greasy because the dry shampoo’s job is to essentially absorb oil into the scalp.”

Kelly suggested leaving the shampoo dry for about 30 seconds after applying it and then using a clean, dry towel to rub into the roots before brushing.

He said this will help remove any excess shampoo that hasn’t been absorbed by the scalp.
