An Australian mum was left horrified to discover why her face “smelled” after using facial cleanser – and has now issued a stern warning against storing the products in the shower.

However, it is likely that it is the storage in a damp shower that causes the mold to develop and not the product itself.
Many Australians were quick to share similar experiences with mould growing inside their products after Diana’s video went viral.

Some Australians who use Cetaphil have also reported problems with mould growing inside the bottle after storing it in the shower.

Many insisted that Cetaphil was not the only brand susceptible to mold, as many others were also present.
“My CeraVe cleanser had mold on it after two months of use, thank goodness the bottle is clear,” one wrote.
Others who didn’t know skincare products could go moldy said they rushed to check their bottles, with some saying they had a “new fear unleashed.”
Most blamed the heat and humidity of showers, especially those with poor ventilation.
“I don’t store my facial cleanser in the shower or in warm places,” one woman said.
“Mine are in my cupboard above the sink and they’re fine,” another agreed.
But one woman thought new preservatives being used in skin care products were to blame for the growing mould problem.
“This is happening now with many skincare and cosmetic brands because natural brands ran a scaremongering campaign against parabens, and now we’re seeing inferior preservatives in products,” one woman theorized.
“I’d rather wash my face with preservatives than mold, give me all the preservatives,” Diana joked.
