“I passed!” Fiona Bruce, 58, admits she was embarrassed by her GP to exercise after being ‘shocked’ by her lack of activity

Fiona Bruce has admitted that she was embarrassed to exercise by her GP, which left her feeling ‘mortified’ by her lack of exercise.

The newscaster, 58, made the confession in line with her stunning cover shoot for woman&home, in which she looks graceful in a range of colorful outfits.

She explained how the doctor was “so appalled” that she was doing “literally no” physical activity, before undergoing the overhaul with the birth of her first son Sam, 21.

The broadcast journalist said: ‘I never exercised until I went to see a GP before or just after I had Sam.

“When asked if I was doing any exercise, I said, ‘None,’ and the doctor replied, ‘Literally none?’ I said no.”

“I was hurt because she was so upset, so I decided to do something.

“For me, exercise isn’t about living longer, but it gives me energy and I don’t know what I would be like without it.

“I’m definitely getting mental benefits. If I feel stressed at work or have stress that I have a lot to do, I find that very useful.’

Fiona shares Sam, as well as daughter Mia, 20, with her media mogul Nigel Sharrocks, 65, whom she has been married to since 1994.

Fiona previously admitted she probably didn’t spend enough time with her two kids growing up because of her high profile TV career — saying she’s thankful they had the same nanny for 20 years.

The TV personality said having the same live-in nanny for two decades helped her balance her professional and home life.

When she appeared on the cover of the October issue of Good Housekeeping, she was asked how she balances work and motherhood, admitting, “It was definitely helped by the same nanny who lived with us for 20 years.

“She left when Mia finished high school, but she’s a good friend of the family.” She added: ‘Have I spent enough time with my children?

“I think every working woman scratches the surface and she will always think, ‘Probably not.’ I don’t think quality time with your kids exists. I think it’s quantity.

“But there’s never any doubt that they take precedence over everything in my life, and always have.”
