Larry Lowe, pictured here in hospital, says the side effects of the Covid booster vaccine have ruined his life.

A dad says he has been “left to rot” after having a nightmarish reaction to a Covid hit which left him in constant pain.

Larry Lowe from Northern Ireland thought he was doing his public duty when he received the Pfizer booster dose in December 2021.

As a fit and healthy 54-year-old man who ran 10km most days and had previously received the vaccine, the amateur musician had no real concerns about receiving the booster shot.

However, just days after being injected with the vaccine, he developed nightmarish symptoms, including numbness on the right side of his face and excruciating pain.

And while Lowe initially thought this might be temporary, things have gotten worse over the past two years and the pain has spread and increased to such an extent that he has been forced to medically retire.

Despite his best efforts, doctors have told him he is unlikely to make a full recovery, with one consultant blaming his symptoms on the Covid vaccine.

Experts have said that the benefits of receiving the Covid vaccine outweigh the side effects, as it prevents the spread of the disease and serious complications, while many people suffer, at worst, mild side effects from the vaccine.

These side effects include tenderness in the arm where the injection was given, feeling tired, headache, and general flu-like symptoms.

But this is not the case for Mr Lowe, who is not opposed to vaccines, who has been told by doctors at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital in London that the vaccine is being treated by his body as a “toxin”.

As a result, she now suffers from excruciating pain that is sometimes so intense that she lies in bed screaming and crying at night.

It was a blow to the body that left him crying and from which he is still recovering years later.

“My wife and I were sitting in this small room in Westminster with about seven or eight consultants telling me that the vaccine had destroyed the nerve in the right side of my face and that it was very unlikely that I would ever recover,” he said. . he told the bbc.

In April of this year, a neurologist diagnosed him with “painful trigeminal neuropathy,” a condition that leaves people with numbness or pain in the head and facial area due to nerve damage.

He has also developed small fiber sensory neuropathy that has affected his entire body from his head to his toes.

Mr Lowe was told that trigeminal neuropathy had “the Covid vaccine as its main causative factor”, while small fiber sensory neuropathy was “also one of the vaccine-related neurological presentations”.

Lowe said the last three years have “destroyed me” and he fears for the future because “it’s getting worse.”

The Omagh resident told the BBC: “I didn’t ask for this.” I received the vaccine in good faith. They have left me to rot.

He said that while the GP and doctors who tried to help him were “fantastic”, the pain he felt meant his life was “barely worth living, except for my family”.

Lowe said his previous life of being in a band, playing guitar and enjoying the world is “just a memory” and that “it’s not me anymore.”

He now wants people to be open about injuries caused by the Covid vaccine, adding that he has no problem with the tried and tested shots.

He said: ‘Vaccines are fine, not for me, they have destroyed me.

“I want someone to recognize that the vaccine has done this.”

The Public Health Agency in Northern Ireland says side effects can occur when taking all vaccines and medicines.

Dr Louise Heron, deputy director of public health at the PHA, told MailOnline: ‘Vaccination is the most important thing we can do to protect ourselves and our children against poor health. It prevents millions of deaths worldwide every year.

‘All vaccines and medications can have some side effects, although not everyone suffers from them.

‘The most common side effects of the COVID-19 vaccine are mild and improve within a week. As with all vaccines and medicines, the safety of COVID-19 vaccines is continually monitored.

“The benefits of the vaccines in preventing COVID-19 and the serious complications associated with it far outweigh any currently known side effects in most patients.”

Medicines and vaccines are overseen by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

It states that vaccination is the most effective way to reduce deaths and serious illnesses from Covid.

MailOnline has contacted Pfizer and the MHRA for comment.
